Introducing local oversight of all schools through new Directors of School Standards in every local area, responsible for intervening in underperforming schools and commissioning new schools transparently and fairly. Creating a clear route for 16-19 year olds, introducing the Technical Baccalaureate, and concentrating on vocational qualifications accredited by employers. Introducing new Technical Degrees to ensure those that excel in vocational skills have opportunities to progress to high level training. Increasing the number of apprenticeships. Education has always been the cornerstone of a strong United Kingdom, and it is vital that children receive the best education possible in order to compete with the rest of the world. Having students take up apprenticeships in jobs with certified professionals qualified to grade the students progress. Scraping the target of 50% of school leavers going to university. Having students from the EU pay the same student fee rates as International students. Supporting the principle of Free Schools that are open to the whole community and uphold British values. Allow existing schools to apply to become grammar schools and be selected according to ability and aptitude. Having schools be investigated by OFSTED on the presentation of a petition to the Department for Education signed by 25% of parents or governors.
