Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to share. Be sure to mark your dish if it contains nuts or cinnamon – we have folks with food sensitivity to those ingredients. For easier clean-up, bring your food item in a disposable dish. We look forward to seeing everyone for a fun-filled evening. Pull out your favorite recipe, your favorite holiday sweater, your signed 12 ½” Christmas block and join us for a great time! Holiday Block Swap ~ Bring your block, wrapped loosely, to the December meeting. Before the meeting, set it on the designated table at the front of the room. Instructions: Make a 12 ½" unfinished block using the Christmas theme and colors. Put your name and the year on the front somewhere with an appropriate fabric pen/marker. Deb Plummer 616-2828. President’s Message To all my friends at FPQG: I hope all of you have a great holiday season with lots of the three F’s: Family, Fun and Food! First of all, I am very proud of all the participation and donation that came from you when I called for some early Christmas giving for the family in need. We saw the Martinez family get some beds, furniture, some household items and a variety of other items to help them get settled more comfortably in their new surroundings. Thank you so much! When I visited with Martinez, I found that she actually has a total of 4 children who stay with her most of the time.: two boys, 2 and 5 years old and two girls, 4 and 15 years old. My thought was that we would collect the money you all wanted to donate at the December meeting and then some of us would go shopping for their needs and wants. All of them need warm coats for winter, and there may also be other things that are needed for the house, so we can see what we get and what is doable. Each child would also get a toy or two. Please remember to bring your donations to the December meeting. On a second note, I wanted to encourage you all to make something “handmade” for your family this Christmas. I have in the past often had a hard time figuring out what to give some of my family and friends because it seems most people have so much. One thing they usually don’t get is something handmade with love! As a child I always wanted money gifts, which I hardly ever got, and now I know why my family members did not want to give money. I remember absolutely nothing about the money gifts that I did get! But there are many other gifts that I do remember quite clearly, and I can say: “Aunt Greta gave me that one year for my birthday” and “Uncle Finn gave me that for graduation.“ Attached to those gifts, there are treasured memories about the people who loved me and gifted me. So here are some suggestions for things I have thought of making for family members that would be received very well, especially when they know that you have thought about them for many hours while making it: tree skirts, Christmas stockings (you can fill them up too, if you like, with goodies) aprons, quilted sofa pillows, table runners, placemats, quilts, wall hangings, rope baskets (filled with lotions, soaps etc.), coasters, knitted wool booties, to name a
