Top Story - The Robert Morris University football team plays the second of back-to-back home games this Saturday, Nov. 15, at Noon as the Colonials host in-state foe Saint Francis at Joe Walton Stadium in a Northeast Conference (NEC) matchup. RMU played well defensively last week against Wagner but could not come away with a victory. With a catch on the first drive against the Seahawks, Duane Mitchell broke the RMU record for consecutive games with a catch as he now has a reception in each of the past 31 outings. He needs seven more catches to break his own single-season school record of 52 from 2013. Mitchell and Nick Faraci earned Capital One Academic All-District honors late last week for their combined academic and athletic exploits. Three Colonials—Drew Allen (cornerback), Anthony Lucian (left tackle) and Ryan Richards Jr. (safety)—made their first-career starts last week. As is the custom, Robert Morris will take a moment to honor each of its seniors, 13 total, in a brief ceremony prior to kickoff. The Colonials will finish the regular season next Saturday, Nov. 22, at local rival Duquesne on ESPN3. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - True freshman linebacker Gerald Ferguson was selected as NEC Rookie of the Week this Monday after he was a main part of RMU’s stout defensive effort against Wagner. He posted season highs in tackles (10) and tackles for loss (3.0) in what was just his second-career start. The most impressive stat of Ferguson's line might have been that on the 10 tackles he was a part of, Wagner netted just three combined yards, partially due to the fact that six of his stops were in the backfield or allowed no gain on the play. Ferguson became the third Colonial to claim this honor in 2014, marking the first time ever that at least three distinct Colonials have earned rookie weekly honors in a single season. Rameses Owens earned the award in September after a 199-yard rushing effort at North Dakota while Nic Lamica garnered the accolade in October after catching eight passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Saturday's Opponent - Saint Francis is one of just three opponents Robert Morris faced in each of the first 20 years the Colonials fielded an intercollegiate program, joining fellow NEC foes Central Connecticut State and Wagner. All-time the Colonials are 15-4-1 (.775) against the Red Flash, their best winning percentage against an opponent they have faced at least five times. However, Saint Francis has won the two most recent meetings, both of which came on the road for RMU, including last year’s season finale. For more information on the all-time series against Saint Francis, including the last game recap, please see page four of today’s game notes. On This Date (Nov. 15) in Robert Morris Football History - Robert Morris has played three times before on November 15 and has come away victorious twice. Somewhat surprisingly, only one of those games was a NEC contest, and all of them came on the road. RMU’s most recent game on this date came in 2008 against the same squad the Colonials will meet Saturday. RMU trailed, 20-14, at the end of the third quarter but used a 21-point final frame to post a come-from-behind 35-20 victory. Five of the seven TD's were scored on plays of at least 20 yards, including one defensive score for each side. Jeff Link’s (2007-10) rush helped put RMU up for good in the fourth while James Snider’s (2007-09) 65-yard fumble recovery TD erased almost all doubt in the outcome. There were seven combined turnovers, and neither side topped 300 yards of offense on the rainy day. Erik Cwalinski (2005-08) threw three touchdown passes while Michael Landers (2007-10) notched seven stops, 2.0 TFL, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Head Coach John BanaszakFirst Season - Eastern Michigan ’75

John Banaszak became the second head football coach in Robert Morris University history in December 2013. He served as an assistant coach and assistant head coach for the Colonials for 11 consecutive years prior to taking over the top spot. Banaszak was selected as Coach-In-Waiting in January 2012, allowing for a simple transition following the 2013 campaign. At the end of the 2013 season, he was named as the Assistant Coach of the Year at the FCS level as selected by the American Football Coaches Association. He was one of five coaches selected for dedication to their teams and communities. He was the first RMU coach, as well as the first from the NEC, to claim this honor. The 2013 season was Banaszak's sixth as assistant head coach for Robert Morris. Among his numerous

duties with the program, he was responsible for tutoring the defensive line and the special teams unit. Under Banaszak's guidance in 2013, Robert Morris led the NEC in net punting, punt return defense and punt return average. Banaszak was also a key component in instructing a RMU defense that finished second in the NEC in total defense within league play in 2013. Robert Morris finished its regular season ranked among the top 25 nationally in at least seven defensive categories including total defense. With Banaszak's assistance, RMU has led the NEC in total defense four times in the past 10 years and ranked among the top four nine times in the past 11 seasons. Banaszak was a key component to a 2010 defense that led the NEC in total defense as the Colonials claimed the NEC's inaugural berth in the FCS Playoffs. In 2006, he helped tutor an RMU defense that led I-AA in total defense, allowing an average of just 228.36 yards per game. 10 of the 13 players in school history to earn All-NEC recognition on the defensive line have come under the tutelage of Banaszak, including Nolan Nearhoof (2009-12), who was named the 2012 NEC Defensive Player of the Year after breaking both the school and league records for career sacks. Nearhoof would go on to earn All-America honors, becoming the third Colonial defensive lineman to claim an All-America nod under Banaszak in a seven-year span. As much as Banaszak's presence has been felt on the defensive side of the ball, the same can be said on special teams. He has helped five distinct Colonials win an award at return specialist within the past decade. A graduate of Eastern Michigan, Banaszak signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to the 1975 season and was one of only three rookies to make the defending Super Bowl champion team out of training camp. Primarily a special teams player on Pittsburgh's Super Bowl X championship team, Banaszak started five games the following season and then started at both right end and inside tackle in 1977 before suffering a knee injury that forced him to the injured reserve list. Between 1978 and 1980, Banaszak started 45 regular-season games at defensive end as the Steelers won back-to-back Super Bowls. In Super Bowl XIII, Banaszak recorded six tackles, including a pair of sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 35-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys, which garnered him Defensive Player of the Game honors. The following year, Banaszak helped the Steelers to a 31-19 victory over the Rams.

SFU Series Quick OutsRMU has not hosted Saint Francis since 2011 as the last two seasons were the first time that one team hosted games in the series in back-to-back years. That 2011 game was the first-ever home night game for the Colonials … RMU has given up more than 20 points to Saint Francis only twice in the previous 20 meetings, with the second occurrence being last year (and the first in 2005) … RMU has twice played the Red Flash in its home finale (1995, 1997) … Neither team has played a turnover-free game against the other since 2001 when both teams did not turn the ball over … Only once in the past seven meetings has a team surpassed 400 total yards (RMU, 2011).

Game #11Saint Francis 23, Robert Morris 3November 23, 2013 / Loretto, Pa.

DeGol Field (Attendance: 1,211) - A pair of Colonials topped notable single-season school records, but Robert Morris was unable to find enough of an offensive punch and fell at Saint Francis, 23-3, to close each team's season in a NEC matchup. The contest represented RMU head coach Joe Walton's final game on the sidelines as he had already announced he would be stepping down after the conclusion of the 2013 season. Redshirt senior linebacker Mike Cook tallied six tackles, including a tackle for loss, and also added an interception in his final collegiate game. In doing so, Cook eclipsed the single-season tackles record at RMU as he finished the year with 117. Junior wide receiver Duane Mitchell hauled in six passes for a game-best 99 yards to continue his strong finish to the campaign. Mitchell's final catch of the day, a grab right along the sideline, was his 52nd of the season, which broke RMU's single-season record for receptions. Saint Francis received the opening kickoff and didn't wait long to take the lead on a 44-yard touchdown pass. Things went from bad to worse for RMU as an interception on the Colonials' first possession gave the Red Flash fantastic field position, which it promptly took advantage of, tallying another touchdown. Another RMU turnover later in the first quarter led to a Saint Francis field goal to give the hosts a three-score lead fewer than nine minutes in. There were three interceptions in the second quarter, including two hauled in by RMU, but the guests were unable to use the takeaways to generate significant scores. Each team ended up hitting a field goal in the second quarter to set the halftime margin at 20-3. Robert Morris had the ball inside the Red Flash 40-yard line twice on its first three drives of the second half but could not complete drives to cut into its deficit. Saint Francis would tack on another field goal before a pair of punts brought the third frame to a close. After two more punts, Robert Morris drove into the Saint Francis red zone in the middle of the fourth quarter. With the clock serving as an enemy to the Colonials, they elected to go for it on fourth down and were stopped short. The RMU defense would force one final punt, and the offense would again move into the hosts' territory, but a deflected pass fell into the arms of defender, and the interception all but sealed the deal. Robert Morris had advantages in first downs, time of possession and third-down conversion percentage against the Red Flash. The RMU defense grabbed two interceptions after Saint Francis entered the game having thrown five all year. Robert Morris held an opponent without a single third-down conversion for the first time in over seven years as SFU was 0-for-11 on the day.

Robert Morris Quick FactsLast Time Out - Duane Mitchell broke a school record, but the Colonials dropped a 20-0 decision to Wagner … The RMU defense yielded only 12 points and allowed just one scoring drive longer than 40 yards … Senior Jake Tkach tallied a game-high and career-high 13 tackles and tied his career high of three tackles for loss … Each team reached the red zone three times … Antwan Eddie contributed a 44-yard punt return, the ninth-longest in school history … Sophomore Jimmy Masson reset his career high in tackles with eight … True freshman Drew Allen notched six tackles and a pass breakup in his first-career start … Junior Anthony Lucian made his first-career start at left tackle.

D-Fence - Robert Morris put forth perhaps its best defensive effort of the season last week against Wagner as it yielded just 215 yards of offense and 95 passing yards. It marked the fewest yards RMU had conceded since early in the 2011 season, a span of 39 games, and the first time RMU held an opponent under the century mark in passing yards since September 2012. The Colonials also notched 10 tackles for loss on the day.

On Target - Duane Mitchell had a breakout campaign as a junior in 2013 as he reset the single-season school record with 52 receptions and notched 867 receiving yards, the second-highest figure in RMU history. What made those stats even more impressive is that RMU faced four of the top 30 passing defenses in the nation a year ago. Mitchell has posted 46 catches in the first nine games of 2014. That has moved him into second in both career receptions (125) and career receiving yards (1,754) at RMU. Mitchell is also fourth in career touchdown catches with 17.

Block Party - Sophomore Max Onyenwe blocked an extra point try by Wagner last week, the third blocked kick by a Colonial this year. It’s the first time since 2003 that Robert Morris has registered at least three blocked kicks in a season.

Break It Up - The median completion percentage across the FCS in 2014 is 57.3%. Robert Morris has allowed only one of its past 16 opponents to reach that mark. In fact, six times in this stretch, the Colonials have held their opponent under a 45% rate. RMU has held each of its past three foes under a 50% mark, the second straight season in which the Colonials have compiled this type of stretch.

Double-Take - After starting the first four games of the season at linebacker, Nic Lamica’s move to wide receiver is going well as evidenced by his recent NEC Rookie of the Week award. He caught eight passes Oct. 18, tying a RMU freshman record, has topped 70 receiving yards three times and 100 yards once. Lamica is among a rare group to have tallied both an offensive TD and an interception during the 2014 season.

Special Special Teams - Senior Hunter Khaleghi had one of the finest special teams performances in school history Oct. 18 and earned NEC weekly honors. He was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts against CCSU, breaking a school record for field goal makes. It was also the most converted by any athlete in a NEC contest since 2002. He connected from a career-long 42 yards in the second quarter and also hit from 39 yards out. Khaleghi added a successful onside kick to his ledger as well.

Double the Fun - Junior Derik Abbott tossed a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winning score, Oct. 18 against Central Connecticut State. In doing so, he became the first Colonial ever to throw multiple touchdown passes in each of his first three college starts. Four of Abbott’s first six touchdowns tosses were 19+ yards in length.

Pick City - Robert Morris ranked among the top 15 nationally in interceptions in 2013, and the Colonial defense is trying to match that effort this year with 11 interceptions in the first nine games. RMU has grabbed at least one interception in 13 of its past 16 games and multiple picks in eight of those contests. In fact, the Robert Morris defense has tallied 24 interceptions in the team’s past 14 games.

Start Me Up - Tony LaMancusa enters Saturday's game with the most consecutive start-ing assignments of all active Colonials as he has served as the punter for 42 straight games. When special teams is excluded, Antwan Eddie and Nick Faraci are tied for the most total starts among active Colonials at 31.

Game #9 • Wagner 20, Robert Morris 0November 8, 2014 • Moon Township, Pa.

Joe Walton Stadium (Attendance: 1,192) - Duane Mitchell broke a school record and Robert Morris played strong defense, but the Colonials dropped a 20-0 decision to Wagner in a NEC contest. Robert Morris was forced into using four quarterbacks due to injuries. Junior Derik Abbott completed his first two passes for 56 yards but was unable to return after the game's opening series. Each team reached the red zone three times Saturday, but Wagner found more success in that area than the Colonials. Robert Morris drove over 50 yards into the red zone on the game's first drive, getting inside Wagner's 10-yard line, but its field goal attempt was blocked. Wagner drove into RMU territory on the ensuing possession, but the Colonials stopped a rush short of the sticks on fourth down. RMU was then lined up to punt, but a poor snap forced the hosts into conceding a safety. Wagner followed by using a short field, after the free kick, to tack on a field goal on the final play of the first quarter after an apparent Colonial interception was nullified during the drive. Robert Morris moved into Seahawk territory to start the second quarter before a sack killed the drive and forced a punt. Wagner went three-and-out on its next two drives while the Colonials fumbled in Wagner territory on one and punted on the other. The Seahawks then made it a two-score game with an 11-play touchdown drive as they scored on a third down rush right near the end of the half. After each team punted once to start the third stanza, Wagner used starting field position near midfield to launch a short field goal drive after RMU held with its back to the wall in the red zone. RMU reached Seahawk territory on its next two drives but punted after a sack and then just missed connecting on a fourth down pass while Wagner punted on two straight drives. On the guests' second punt, Antwan Eddie returned the boot 44 yards into the red zone. An untimely interception by the hosts then turned into six quick points for Wagner as the Seahawks brought the pick back nearly the length of the field. Robert Morris then executed a beautiful trick return as a handoff during the runback confused the cover team as Andy Smigiera brought it back 57 yards. However, RMU was unable to take advantage as a turnover on downs kept the hosts from reaching the red zone. Each of the next six drives culminated in a punt, essentially end-ing the contest.

Last RMU GameAny Given Saturday - Before becoming a record-breaking receiver for RMU, Duane Mitchell began his career as a running back in his rookie season. Since moving to receiver, Mitchell has played in 31 games, and he has caught at least one pass in each of those outings. He has also caught multiple passes in 21 of the team's past 22 games. Last week he broke the RMU record for consecutive games with a reception, which was held by tight end Shadrae King (2008-11), who caught a pass in each of the final 30 games he played.

No Passing Zone - The Robert Morris defense has done well to keep opposing offenses from moving the ball through the air near the end zone. The Colonials have grabbed seven interceptions thus far this year within 20 yards of the end zone they were defending. Five different players have contributed to this mark while sophomore safety Andy Smigiera has three such grabs on the year.

Initial Impressions - A number of RMU players have accrued a ‘first’ in the season’s opening nine games. A total of 26 Colonials have made their first-career start thus far, 14 on offense and 12 on defense. 16 of those 26 had never competed in a collegiate game before 2014. In all, 34 Colonials have made their collegiate debut this season. Luke Brumbaugh became the first redshirt or true freshman to start a season opener at quarterback for RMU since 1994.

Coming of Age - Sophomore Andy Smigiera has provided a lift to RMU in recent games as he has both tackled opponents and forced turnovers. He grabbed the first three interceptions of his career in the month of October and owns two in the past three games. Smigiera, who also recovered a fumble in the season opener, posted a career-high 10 tackles in the last road game at nationally ranked Bryant and is tied for second on the team with 63 stops.

It's Not on Us - First-year head coach John Banaszak, who previously served in the Marines, has his team playing a very disciplined brand of football. Robert Morris is 12th nationally in fewest penalty yards per game among FCS programs, averaging 43.11 per outing. The Colonials have accumulated fewer penalty yards than their opponent in nine of their past 11 games.

Spread the Love - Robert Morris grabbed 16 interceptions in 2013, its second-highest figure since 1999. What really was noteworthy about RMU's sum was that 11 different Colonials helped produce it, marking the most players to have at least one interception in any RMU season. After Ryan Richards Jr. grabbed a pick in the last road game against Bryant, 15 distinct Colonials have grabbed at least one interception in the team’s past 16 games.

Trick-or-Treat - Robert Morris has broken into its bag of tricks in recent weeks and had a great deal of success in doing so. In the last three games, RMU has recovered a surprise onside kick, converted a fake punt attempt, used a handoff during a kick return to spring a long gain and converted a two-point conversion with a pass to primary quarterback Derik Abbott.

Time to Buy Stock - The RMU defense was hit hard by graduation losses after last season, but one piece the Colonials are happy to have is linebacker Mike Stojkovic. Stojkovic, who was hampered by injuries in 2013, transferred to RMU from FBS school North Texas where he started nine games as a true freshman, making 48 tackles. He is among the top 10 in the NEC in tackles as he has 63 stops, 36 solo, 8.0 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery in 2014.

Tough Sledding - With Robert Morris’ recent trip to Bryant, the Colonials have now faced at least one nationally ranked opponent in each of the past five seasons. This streak is likely to continue next year as the Colonials have South Dakota State on their 2015 slate. Each of RMU's past five games against ranked foes has come on the road.

NEC Champions since 1996

For Starters - When Robert Morris took the field last week against Wagner, it sported its ninth distinct offensive starting lineup in the first nine games. RMU, which has sported different lineups on offense in its past 12 games overall, has seen 21 distinct players start on offense in 2014 alone.

Making the Grade - Senior offensive lineman Nick Faraci and senior wide receiver Duane Mitchell were both named Capital One Academic All-District First Team last week. As a result of their first-team selections, both Colonials advanced to the Academic All-America ballot. This is second straight year that Faraci has earned this honor and the first such award for Mitchell as they continued the trend of academic successes in the football program. These two accolades gave the Colonial program at least one Academic All-District honoree in each of the past 12 seasons, a span in which Robert Morris has taken home 23 overall selections. To put that in perspective, no other NEC school has an active streak of football Academic All-District selections lon-ger than three years. Faraci, a nursing major, has a sterling 3.92 GPA. He has started 31 consecutive games at center, the most consecutive starts by any active Colonial on offense or defense. Mitchell, a finance major, has a 3.42 GPA. He has 46 catches for 450 yards this year and became the first RMU wide receiver to ever claim this honor.

Ramming Defenses - Rameses Owens was named National Freshman of the Week after breaking school records in the road opener at North Dakota. He is believed to be the first Colonial ever to earn Freshman of the Week honors from The Sports Network. Owens had a breakout performance as he racked up a RMU freshman record 199 rush-ing yards while finding the end zone once. In the non-conference finale, Owens ran for 154 yards against Monmouth, averaging over six yards per rush. North Dakota is one of four RMU opponents ranked among the top 25 nationally in rushing defense.

Hurry Up – One of Darrin Hicks' goals as offensive coordinator is to run plays at a high rate. RMU has run at least 80 plays 12 times in program history with four of those occurrences coming in the first nine games of this year. That figure has tied the 2004 RMU team for the most 80+ play games in a season.

Catch Me If You Can - Antwan Eddie had a challenge cut out in duplicating his 2013 effort as he became the first Colonial to be named an All-American for a performance on special teams. He returned punts for the first time in his career in 2013 and tallied a single-season school record 405 yards on 27 returns. He ranked third in the FCS, averaging 15 yards per return, and broke a school record with an 88-yard return for a TD at VMI. Eddie, who also earned postseason acclaim by garnering All-NEC honors at cornerback, has posted a 30+ yard return in each of the last two home games.

They'll Be Back - One interesting way to examine the youth of the Colonials is to look at the number of players that started the season opener who will be finished with their careers after this season. Of RMU’s 22 offensive and defensive starters from its opener, only three Colonials—two on offense, one on defense—will have used all of their NCAA eligibility when the 2014 campaign is completed.

Punt It - Tony LaMancusa earned All-NEC honors in 2013 after leading the league in punting. He also helped RMU top the NEC in both net punting and punt return defense. LaMancusa, a four-year starter, broke the Robert Morris record for career punts in the NEC opener and has currently booted the ball 247 times. He has notched 33 punts downed inside the 20 against only six touchbacks in his last 22 games.

Colonial Comeback - In its Oct. 18 home game, Robert Morris fell behind 24-6 early in the third quarter after Central Connecticut State scored on its first drive of the half. At that point, CCSU had zero turnovers and had accrued 281 yards of total offense com-pared to RMU’s 180. However, RMU rallied by scoring the game’s final 21 points. Robert Morris forced turnovers on three of CCSU's next four drives, with the lone exception being a punt. Meanwhile, RMU scored on four consecutive possessions to give the Colonials the lead. Robert Morris finished +2 in turnovers and ended the game leading in total yards as the Colonials held CCSU to 59 yards of offense in the final 29 minutes. And that’s how RMU posted the largest come-from-behind win in program history.

Farison Elevated to Assistant Head Coach

Robert Morris University head coach John Banaszak announced September 10 that Scott Farison had been promoted to assistant head coach. Farison is in his 13th season on the sidelines for RMU and is the longest-tenured active mem-ber of the staff. He is in his eighth season as the defensive coordinator for the Colonials, and he will retain the responsibility for leading the defense in his new role. "Scott's been here for 13 years and absolutely deserves this promotion to assistant head football coach," Banaszak said. "He performs many duties that are not in his job description and is definitely my right-hand man. Promoting him to assistant head coach is certainly the next step in his career." The Colonials have consistently produced quality defenses under Farison's watch, and last year was no exception. In Farison's 11 seasons coaching the defensive side of the ball at RMU, the Colonials have finished among the top 25 nationally in total defense on six occasions, including finishing among the top 11 on four of those occurrences. Robert Morris has led the Northeast Conference in total defense four times in the past 10 years with guidance from Farison. In 2013, RMU ranked second in total defense within league play, finishing in the top two in that category for the third time in five years. Farison helped the RMU defense finish the regular season among the top 25 nationally in a number of defensive categories including third-down defense, first downs allowed, passing defense, red zone defense, passing efficiency defense, turnovers gained and total defense. Farison has been directly responsible for helping four different Colonials to NEC Defensive Player of the Year honors within the past decade, including two within the past four years. He has also assisted two Colonials to NEC Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in his time at RMU. In Farison's seven seasons as defensive coordinator, he has seen RMU claim 21 All-NEC awards on the defensive side of the ball. Farison had spent the past decade as the recruiting coordinator for Robert Morris, but as part of the move, Banaszak announced that assistant coach Andrew Richardson would assume that role. Richardson, the team's offensive line coach, is in his eighth season on staff with RMU. In Richardson's seven seasons as an assistant, RMU offensive linemen have claimed seven All-NEC honors with two separate Colonials earning All-America awards.

Robert Morris in the 2014 NEC StatsThe Founding Father - The one constant in the first two decades of Colonial football was former head coach Joe Walton. Walton, the former NFL tight end and head coach of the New York Jets, started the program from scratch, com-pleting everything from hiring assistants to purchasing equipment. He was named NEC Coach of the Year four times in 18 seasons and guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns during his time on the side-lines. Walton, currently a special assistant to the athletic director at Robert Morris, was inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame in November 2013.

Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 89-13 (.873). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 13-78-1 (.147). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 14-9 (.609) in such games.

The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994, there have been 76 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 71-5 (.934), including a record of 42-5 (.894) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 29-0.

RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his two-year career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in both rushing yards per game (153.1) and all-purpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks sixth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 14th all-time ... Former linebacker and current assistant coach Alex DiMichele (2008-10) averaged 10 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which ranks 13th all-time in the FCS record book ... Robert Morris has topped the nation in passing defense twice in the past 15 years, based on passing efficiency defense rating. The Colonials topped the charts in 1999 (with a 80.80 rating) as well as in 2006 (with a 88.70 rating).

Did You Know? - Robert Morris owns the all-time FCS record for the most consecutive quarters while holding an opponent scoreless. During the 1996 season, the Colonials went 15 straight quarters without allowing a single point. In fact, the record-setting streak occurred at the beginning of the sea-son. RMU posted three straight shutouts -- 20-0 against Mercyhurst (9/7), 38-0 against Butler (9/14) and 7-0 against Towson State (9/21) -- to open the campaign and then held Central Connecticut State (9/28) scoreless for the first three quarters before finally allowing a point for the first time all sea-son. In all, Robert Morris went 234:04 before allowing a point in 1996. RMU went 9-2 (.818) in 1996, claiming a share of the NEC championship, and con-ceded just 12.9 points per game.

Robert Morris CaptainsHead coach John Banaszak announced before Week 8 that senior linebacker Mike Stojkovic was named as a captain, giving the Colonials a trio of permanent captains. Robert Morris previously had one offensive captain and one defensive captain with two additional players serving as captains each week on a rotating basis.

OFFENSERedshirt senior Jon Hill is the team’s captain on offense. Hill is the most experienced offensive lineman on the ros-ter, having played in 34 career games. He started every game at right tackle in 2013 and has also started at right guard. Hill actually entered RMU as a defensive lineman coming out of high school, but he was transitioned to the offensive side of the ball before his sophomore season.

DEFENSESeniors Antwan Eddie and Mike Stojkovic are the team’s captains on defensive. Eddie is a three-year letterwinner and two-year starter at cornerback. He claimed all-con-ference honors at both defensive back and return special-ist last season after breaking the single-season school record for punt return yards. He owns 105 tackles, seven interceptions and 537 punt return yards in his career. Stojkovic transferred to RMU from an FBS program before the 2013 season. After playing only four games due to injury last year, he has started every game at linebacker in 2014. He owns 81 tackles at RMU and 9.5 tackles for loss.

Colonial football games are heard live on ESPN Radio AM-970 Pittsburgh, the flagship station of Robert Morris University athletics. ESPN 970 and RMU reached a three-year agreement in the summer of 2013 to broadcast foot-ball, men’s basketball and men’s hockey games. The Voice of the Colonials, Chris Shovlin, and color analyst Brian Cleary call the football action. RMU Assistant Sports Information Director Spencer Kowitz joins Shovlin as color analyst for select Colonial road games. "The John Banaszak Show" is on 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Games can also be heard on the station’s website, www.970espn.com, as well as on iHeartRadio. RMU home and league games can be seen live for free on NEC Front Row, the conference’s online digital net-work. The league has added multiple upgrades this year, including the ability to transmit live events in HD as well as providing the ability for the viewer to use a DVR-style, in-game real-time rewind feature.

Colonials in the NFLSince Robert Morris played its first season in 1994, three former Colonials have appeared in a game in the National Football League (NFL), the most among current NEC members in this span as of August 2014. Many players have “rewritten” record books at various schools. At Robert Morris, however, Tim Hall wrote the record book. Hall rushed for 2,908 yards on 393 carries in his two seasons in a Colonial uniform and was named an All-American by the Associated Press in 1995. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round (183rd player overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft. In 1997, he led the Raiders in yards per carry average with 5.2 and was second in rushing yards to Napolean Kaufman. On Sept. 30, 1998, Hall was shot and killed in Kansas City at age 24. Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 1996-1999, carved out a niche for himself in the NFL for over a decade. Fraley was a three-time Mid-Major All-American during his years at RMU before he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free-agent contract in April 2000. Fraley was later claimed by the Eagles and started at center for Philadelphia for the entire 2001 season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Former RMU defensive back Robb Butler played for the San Diego Chargers during the 2004 season and was featured in special teams situations, including returning kickoffs.
