LEED credits: Sustainable building

Thanks to Superpan, it is possible to obtain LEED credits in the following aspects:

• Content of recycled material• Regional material• Quickly renewable material• Certified wood• Low emission material

In 2011, FINSA became the first manufacturer of technicalwood on the Iberian Peninsula that provides the EnvironmentalProduct Declaration (EPD) for its products.

The EPD is a tool for passing on clear and transparentinformation on the environmental impact of a certainproduct during all the stages in itslife cycle.

In the case of our products it confirms that the wood is a material that maintains its captured level of greenhouse gases throughout our production process.

Certifications: wood from sustainable forests

“Sustainable building makes sense”

The Chain of Custody certifies the journey of the raw materials from the forest to the consumer/customer, including all stages of the process, i.e. it guarantees the customer that the products he is buying are manufactured with materials that are sourced from sustainably managed forests.

This guarantee is provided through the PEFC and FSC certifications, which affect the manufacture and marketing of products derived from wood.

Structural

Components

The high resistance to impact of the smooth fibre surface makes Superpan a product that is suited for the manufacturing of different furniture components such as kitchen countertops, shelving, office desktops,...

The kitchen countertops manufactured using Superpan TOP provide an end product with a additional resistance to impact and durable surface quality.

Doors

Both with intermediate thicknesses for frames and racks as well as with the greater thicknesses for the doors, Superpan provides door manufacturers with new possibilities and resources to make technically more advanced products at much more competitive costs.

Superpan Top (fibre faces approximately 4 mm thick) is a product that is especially suited for this application as it allows for machining directly on the surface.

PRINTING

Superpan Plus

Superpan Plus is a product from the Superpan range that has been specially developed for lacquering, varnishing and printing applications.

Its compact and smooth wood fibre faces, which are complemented with a delicate sanding using fine grain emery, allow for obtaining a surface that is ideal for these applications.

With Superpan Plus new possibilities are now available in this aspect of application. The results bear this out: Superpan is a more competitive alternative that improves the profitability of the end product.

Lacquered

• Lacquering process on surface the same as that of an MDF.

• Applying a varnishable edge provides a perfect finish.

• Excellent dimensional stability after the lacquering.

• Behaviour towards surface aging over time better than that displayed by a particle chipboard and similar to that of an MDF board.

• Its reduced surface absorption allows for a noteworthy paint saving (primer).

The surface properties of this product make it the ideal solution for several types of printing. Line roller printing for furniture components (sides, panels, the backs of drawers), digital printing in the manufacturing of displays and advertising supports.

The fibre layer on the faces makes it possible to keep the appearance of the surface stable and in perfect condition preventing the so-called “orange peel” effect over time.

Coated Superpan boards provide superior mechanical properties. Moreover, the excellent performance of this core with regards to machining (cutting, drilling,...) allows for making end products with a better quality finish.

Superpan's dimensional stability also differentiates it from

the majority of boards available on the market. This aspect is especially relevant when choosing a board for coating.

Postforming

This innovative board allows for postforming solutions with reduced radii directly on the raw board or with a melamine coating:

Special machining

Raw postforming

Superpan allows for direct postforming on the wood fibre layer using the usual lines. After postforming, the component will be ready for lacquering or for any other type of coating

Postforming on melamine

Superpan Decor allows for direct postforming without the need for barrier paper. This advantage offers a considerable reduction in costs.

17

Machining on faces

This special range of Superpan extending the potential of this board, allowing for direct machining on the product's faces, thanks to the 4 mm of fibre on the outside layers.

Superpan Top is the ideal solution for making access doors, countertops or any other component or application where a thick board is required, which has greater fibre thickness on the faces.

Superpan TopCurved

Superpan has the perfect structure for making curved panels. Thanks to the grooving technique on its back face Superpan becomes a highly flexible board that is suited for covering or lining curved elements (columns, bars, countertops,...)

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CUTTING, MACHINING, DRILLING, GLUING AND EDGE TREATMENT.

The working conditions (speed, pressure, temperature) for the cutting, machining and edge treatment processes are similar to the usual ones. The edges must be protected against blows, shocks, wear and moisture. We recommend using edges with greater hardness (for example PVC or

ABS), sheet or layered wood, metal or plastic profiles. Once it has been processed, it is essential that the end product is properly insulated and sealed at the four edges to prevent swelling.

Superpan must be transported and stored with care,in compact piles and resting on an appropriate flat base. Verify that the bearers are placed in the same position and are aligned to avoid deformation of the board. We recommend that you keep Superpan in its original packaging, in a dry place, protected from contact with the ground, walls and moisture.

It is recommended to take care to prevent heavy orside blows or the board dropping to the ground as itcould be damaged inside.

TRANSPORT, STORAGE AND HANDLING RECOMMENDATIONS.

• The boards must always be stored under cover and on a flat surface.

• The optimal storage conditions are of 65% humidity, avoiding dryer or damp environments.

• In no event should it be in direct contact with water.• The bearers should always be vertically aligned.• It is recommended not to stack them more than 4 high.• If the packaging is damaged during handling, it must be

repackaged for proper product preservation.• Failure to adhere to the stacking conditions explained,

as well as changes in humidity or temperature in the storage or transformation areas, can lead to irreversible deformations and warping.
