Thanks so much for your interest in being a part of legislative history by becoming a Florida Senate Page. This unique opportunity to represent your community and voluntarily serve will provide you with an up-close legislative experience.

As a Senate Page, you will work directly with Senators and their staff each day. You will also have the rare privilege to observe and assist Senators as they debate

legislation on the floor of the Florida Senate.

In this booklet, you will find important information about the Senate Page Program, including more details on how to apply. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of the Senate Sergeant at Arms at (850) 487-5224 or (850) 487-5256.

Again, thanks for your desire to serve in the Florida Senate as a Senate Page. I hope to see you in Tallahassee.

Respectfully,

Don Gaetz

Be a part of history! For more than 34 years, the Florida Senate has given interested young people the opportunity to observe and participate in the legislative process. During regular sessions of the Florida Legislature, par-ticipating students from across the state have come to Tallahassee for one week to assist members of the Legislature in carrying out the work of the people. A one-week limit is set so that as many young people as possible have the opportunity to serve during the 60-day session.

During their assigned week, Senate Pages will assist members of the Florida Senate by distributing materials and messages, learn about the legislative process through a hands-on approach, and experience a "mock session" in which students role-play as Senators and engage in debating, discussing and voting on legislation.

Under the supervision of the Senate Page Coordinator, pages will work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will receive an hourly stipend that will be mailed two to three weeks after their service. Senate Pages will be responsible for their own transportation, housing and meals while visiting the Capital City. Professional dress is required.

Each Senator has the opportunity to sponsor up to two pages, between the ages of 15-18, for one week during the 60-day regular session. Senators may also select alternate pages to serve on an as-needed basis. Those inter-ested are encouraged to contact their hometown Senator or the Senate Page Program Coordinator, Linda Wilkie at (850) 487-5224 or (850) 487-5256 for application information no later than January 2, 2015. Once selected, students will be notified of their scheduled week of service.
