FLOOD RESPONSE

Imagine that you lived in an area prone to river flooding. You have

a dream house, in a great location, and so you don’t want to move. How would you prepare for a flood, what would you do in the event of a flood, and what would

you do in the aftermath of the flood.

PREPARATION How would you prepare for flooding?

Produce a plan. Think about: What would you buy? What would you keep safe in your

house? What would you change about your

house?

The flood

RESPONSE Your house has flooded. What now? What would you do to the house to

ensure minimal damage? How would you travel around? What would you eat and drink? What would you use for lighting or

heating?

AFTERMATH The floodwaters have gone. What now? How would you get your house back to

normal? Would you make any alterations to your

house to help in the event of another flood?
