Appendix C Configuration features
C.1 Flexi EDGE BTS configuration features
C.1.1 RF Cable Auto-detection
The Flexi EDGE Base Station supports automatic RF Cable Auto-detection during commissioning for common configurations. RF CableAuto-detection reduces integration time because RF cabling does notneed to be manually defined.
For a description of RF Cable Auto-detection, see Auto-detection of SiteConfiguration and RF Cable Auto-detection in the Nokia Flexi EDGE BTSFeature Descriptions document.
For information on supported configurations, see RF auto-detectionsupported configurations in the Nokia Flexi EDGE BTS Commissioningdocument.
C.1.2 Optimised configurations
Upgrade-optimised configurations
In upgrade-optimised configurations, odd-number sectors (such as 1+1, 3+3+3, 5+5) are built like the next even-numbered configurations. Forexample, a 1+1 configuration is built like a 2+2 configuration, although thesite is operational as a 1+1. This allows easy future expansion withreduced downtime. A site visit may not be needed for expansion.
RF Cable Auto-detection is supported with upgrade-optimisedconfigurations.
For examples of RF cabling in upgrade-optimised configurations, seefigures Example of a 1+1 upgrade-optimised configuration with Rxdiversity below and RF cables in 1+1+1/2+2+2 bypass 2UD configurationin section Connecting RF cables.

Creating FCOA Configurations
The dotted line indicates that the cable is installed but it is not in use.
Figure 34. Example of a 1+1 upgrade-optimised configuration with Rx diversity
Cost-optimised configurations
In cost-optimised configurations, the Dual TRX Module (EXxA) carriers (Aand B) are split into separate cell areas. Only pairs of odd-numberedconfigurations can be cost-optimised (such as 1+1, 3+3). Cost-optimisedconfigurations minimise the number of modules and are not recommendedif future expansion is possible at the site.
RF Cable Auto-detection supports cost-optimised configurations.

Configuration features
For an example of RF cabling in cost-optimised configurations, see figuresRX cables in a cost-optimised 3+3 configuration and TX cables in a cost-optimised 3+3 configuration in section 3+3 2-way 2UD cost-optimisedconfiguration.
Antenna-optimised configurations
Antenna-optimised configurations allow the Dual Duplexer Module (ERxA)sides A and B to be split into separate cell areas. This minimises thenumber of antennas.
A sector must have two or more antennas to support Rx diversity, as Rxdiversity is not supported across BTS cells.
RF Cable Auto-detection supports antenna-optimised configurations withone exception: a BCF reset is needed instead of a sector reset, if anychanges to RF cabling are made during runtime.
RxAO-RxAI is pre-installed.

Configuration features
C.1.3 Antenna sharing (co-siting)
The Dual Duplexer Module (ERxA) can be configured to share the Rxdiversity signal between Flexi EDGE BTS and an external BTS (or otherreceiver).
For details, see Dual Duplexer Module (ERxA) Description.
C.1.4 Internal switching to 4-way uplink diversity (4UD)
Flexi EDGE BTS uses an internal switch to designate configurations as 2-way uplink diversity (2UD) or 4-way uplink diversity (4UD). The switch isbased on the Site Configuration File (SCF):
. If RxDivA/B connectors are not defined as in use in the SCF, theswitch is set to 2UD.
. If RxDivA/B connectors are defined as in use in the SCF, the switchis set to 4UD.
The Site Configuration Files are used for commissioning the Flexi EDGEBTS. For details, see Nokia Flexi EDGE BTS Commissioning.
The RxDivA/B connectors on the Dual TRX (EXxA) Module are also usedfor configurations which require splitting a Dual TRX Module into separatecell areas (such as cost-optimised configurations, 1+3).
For details about the Dual TRX Module connectors, see Dual TRX Module(EXxA) Description.
C.2 Mixed Remote Tune Combiner (ECxA) and Dual Duplexer Module(ERxA) configurations
Configurations with a mix of Remote Tune Combiner (ECxA) and DualDuplexer Module (ERxA) sectors are allowed. In these configurations,BUS and PWR cabling should follow table Bus and internal power cablingin mixed Remote Tune Combiner and Dual Duplexer Moduleconfigurations. The table shows to which ESMA and ESEA BUS and PWRconnectors the cables from each EXxA and ECxA must be connected.
A maximum of two Remote Tune Combiner Modules and nine DualDuplexer Modules are allowed per site in mixed Remote Tune Combinerand Dual Duplexer Module configurations. For RF cabling instructions, follow the appropriate instructions for each sector.

Creating FCOA Configurations
E.8.6 1+1+1 or 2+2+2 IDD 4UD configuration in FCOA
To create a 1+1+1/2+2+2 DP 4UD configuration, you need the followingmodules:
. 1 System Module (ESMA)
. 1 transmission sub-module (FIxA)
. 6 Dual TRX Modules (EXxA)
. 6 Dual Duplexer Modules (ERxA)
You will also need 4 Upgrade Cable (EUCA) Kits (12 cables).
Note that the effect of using the EUCA Kit for Tx cabling is 0.7 dB with highband, and 0.45 dB with low band. Nokia Siemens Networks recommendsonly using the EUCA cables for Rx cabling in IDD configurations.
If you use 24 V DC or AC power, see section Common cabinetconfigurations for power module requirements.
The following figures show the module installation order and RF cabling. For all other cabling instructions, follow the instructions for a 4+4+4 2-way2UD configuration in FCOA.
In 1+1+1 IDD 4UD configurations, full RF cabling for 2+2+2 IDD 4UD isneeded to enable RF Cabling Auto-detection. It is also recommended forfuture expansion.
