“Our parish school exists to assist parents in the Christian formation and education of their children. At the center of this formation lies the call to Christian discipleship, a way of life and love rooted in a relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. But discipleship cannot exist in a vacuum. It demands community. And nowhere is this community formed or experienced more profoundly than in the gathering together that is the Mass, Sunday after Sunday, year after year. Attending Mass is about more than fulfilling an obligation. It is about learning how to be united through Christ, with Christ and in Christ. Our generous parish scholarship, which will be increased to $1,000 next academic year, is offered to registered parish families and is made possible through the sacrifices of many. The scholarship helps to remind us that our parish school exists primarily for the education of Transfiguration families. This is absolutely NOT to say that non- Transfiguration families are not welcome in our halls. Quite the contrary – Transfiguration is an asset to the entire east metro, and I am proud that many families, Catholic or otherwise, seek us out for the education of their children. But the fact remains that our school is an apostolate of our parish, and it is especially important that we support those parish families that want the benefits of a Catholic parochial education. Up until now, this scholarship has been based on whether or not the applicant has pledged financial support of the parish, as little or as much as they might be able to give. But we all know that financial support, important as it is, is not the real heart of parish membership. Rather, parish membership is first of all seen in the gathering together on Sunday for the worship of God and the strengthening of community. And so beginning next academic year those parish families benefiting from our parish scholarship will be asked to attend Sunday (or Saturday evening) Mass at Transfiguration at least three times a month throughout the academic year.” February 24 2019 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time OUR MISSION www.transfigurationmn.org “LORD, HOW GOOD IT IS FOR US TO BE HERE!” CHURCH OFFICE INFO CATHOLIC SCHOOL INFO Continued on page 3 “Flevit Super Illam” by Enrique Simonet

OUR MISSION
www.transfigurationmn.org “LORD, HOW GOOD IT IS FOR US TO BE HERE!”
I am certainly aware that there are some registered households wherein parish membership may vary between the spouses, that is, one parent may belong to Transfiguration while the other does not. In these cases, it would only be the registered Transfiguration parishioner that is asked to attend Mass at Transfiguration so as to qualify for the scholarship. In addition, I am aware that some families do attend Mass elsewhere occasionally, and the allowance for some weekends away from Transfiguration is meant to acknowledge this reality.
Our parish scholarship is not the only means to make Transfiguration Catholic School an affordable option for those families who choose Transfiguration for their children. Financial aid is readily available for those who qualify. It is important to state again that this financial aid is available precisely because of the many sacrifices that parishioners and friends of Transfiguration make for our school. Every dollar that assists families are dollars that someone has given out of love and commitment to our school. Please keep our generous benefactors in your prayers…”
