1. Technical data

The instructions describe the overrunning clutch with clutch shift in horizontal mounting position withshafthub connection by cylindrical bore with parallel key. Where other shafthub connections are to beused (e.g. conical bores with parallel key, shrink fit or splines to standard "DIN 5480") Siemens should beconsulted.

If a dimensioned drawing has been made out for the clutch, the data in this drawing must be given priority. The dimensioned drawing including any other documents should be made available to the user of thesystem.

Part numbers and part designations can be found in the spareparts drawing and spareparts list insection 7 or on the dimensioned drawing.

The type UZWN overrunning clutch is a directionally actuated freewheel clutch. Clutch part 1 is fitted onthe motor or a driving gearunit shaft. The clutch part 2 is fitted on the drivenmachine shaft or drivengearunit shaft.

The overrunning clutch is engaged in the stationary condition by shifting the clutch part 3 axially. As soonas the speed of clutch part 2 is higher than that of clutch part 3, independent disengagement caused bythe angled faces of the engaging dogs on clutch part 2 and part 3 takes place. Motor and driven machineunit are then disengaged mechanically.

The overrunning clutch is suitable only for horizontal arrangement.

Engage clutch part 3 only when it is in the stationary condition.

The overrunning clutch may be optionally constructed as a lefthand version for counterclockwise rotationor as a righthand version for clockwise rotation, seen from the driving shaft end (clutch part 3).

Fig. 6: KSUN clutch shift, manually operated with blocking

The KSUN clutch shift is suitable for attachment to and operation of the UZWN overrunning clutch.

The shifting fork (1) engages in the groove around clutch part 3 by the cam rollers (19) and shifts the UZWNoverrunning clutch.

The shift fork (1) can be manually operated by means of the shift lever (5).

The shift position of the UZWN overrunning clutch is identified by proximity indicators. The signals can betransmitted to a control system.

The clutch shift must be actuated only while the machine is at a standstill.Attention! Danger of squeezing.

When the UZWN overrunning clutch overruns, clutch part 3 is pushed back. The clutch shift moves intothe "disengaged" position in jerks.

During overrun disengagement is jerky.Attention! There is a risk of injury through the movement of the clutch shift.

The clutch shift is retained by means of the locking piece (15) until manual engaging.

The UZWN overrunning clutch must not be held in an engaged position against axialforces, e.g. from the work process.

Fig. 7: Possible misalignments

1) Axial misalignment (ΔKa)

2) Angular misalignment (ΔKw)

3) Radial misalignment (ΔKr)

3.3.1 Axial misalignment

The gap dimension ΔKa should be set within the deviation permitted for the dimension "S2" (see table 6).

3.3.2 Angular misalignment

The angular misalignment ΔKw can be measured as difference of the gap dimension(ΔS2 = S2max. – S2min.) ΔS2perm. see table 6.

If required, the permissible angular misalignment ΔKw can be calculated as follows:

ΔKwperm. in RAD = ΔS2perm. / DA ΔS2perm. see table 6.

ΔKwperm. in DEGREE = (ΔS2perm. / DA) x (180 / π) "DA" in mm, see section 1.

3.3.3 Radial misalignment

The permissible radial misalignment ΔKrperm. can be found in table 6.

3.4 Alignment

When aligning, the angular and radial misalignment should be kept as low as possible.

Misalignment values specified in table 6 are maximum permissible overall values in operation, resultingfrom mispositioning through imprecision during alignment and misalignment through operation(e.g. deformation through load, heat expansion).

Reduced misalignment in the clutch minimises expected wear on the flexible elements. Misalignment inthe clutch gives rise to restorative forces which may impose inadmissible stress on adjacent machine parts(e.g. bearings).

4. Startup and operation

Check bolttightening torques for the overrunning clutch and tightening torques forthe foundation bolts of the coupled machine before startup. Check the position andoperation of the proximity indicators to determine the shift position. Enclosures(coupling protection, contact prevention at least IP2X) must be fitted.Overload conditions during startup cannot be excluded. If the overrunning clutchbreaks through overload, metal parts may fly off and cause personal injury and/ormaterial damage.

Follow the following switchingon procedure for startup and subsequent operation.

Manual operation of the clutch shift

• Main motor "OFF"Shift position ”DISENGAGED”UZWN overrunning clutch is disengaged, the proximity indicator has gives signal B20.

• Shift KSUN clutch shift mechanically and adjust UZWN overrunning clutch.

• If signal B40 is given, start auxiliary drive, then enable main drive.

• If signal B40 is not given, start auxiliary drive briefly and once more try to adjust KSUN clutch shift.

The overrunning clutch must run with little noise and without vibration. Irregular behaviour must be treatedas a fault requiring immediate remedy. In case of fault the drive must be stopped at once. The necessarymeasures for repair must be taken in accordance with the safety regulations applying.
