Nail Fin Flat Casing Instructions

• Install Door per AAMA 2400-10 Installation standard.

• Read Instructions from beginning to end before assembling or installing Brickmould.

• Flat Casing is not compatible with other Milgard Window or Door offerings.

• Door must be properly installed and flashed prior to Flat Casing installation.

Notes For Proper Installation

If siding will not be applied around Flat Casing, use HA8300CPML.HA8300CPML provides a more permanent connection. Trim is difficultto remove if using HA8300CPML.

Flat Casing lip rests on the face of the frame.

Flat Casing lip does not rest inside the accessory groove.

Corner Key Assembly

1 Determine Header, Sill, and Leg Trim Pieces.

Skip to Step 14 if Installing Factory Assembled Flat Casing.

2 Insert Corner Keys into Flat Casing miter ends.

Note: There are two Corner Keys per Miter Corner.8

Corner Key Assembly Cont.3 Start #8 x 5/8” Flat Head Screw into one hole.

Repeat for all Corner Keys. Tighten screw halfway.

Sill Cap Assembly

4 Caulk inside of Sill Nose on Both Ends.

Skip to Step 11 for Flat Casing on all Sides.

5 Seat End Caps into Sill Nose.

Sill Nose Horn Modification

6 Remove Screw Boss from End Cap. Score both Sides and Snap.

Skip to Step 8 for Sill Nose without Horns.

CAUTION!: Only do this step for Sill Nose Horns.

7Insert first Secondary Sill Key against edge of End cap. Place second Secondary Sill Key 2” apart on center. Go to Step 9.

Repeat Step 6 for other end of Sill Nose.

8 Place Secondary Sill Key two inches from first key.

Note: Leg Trim will align Secondary Sill Keys in correct locations.

Flat Casing Assembly

9 Lay out Flat Casing outside face down on a flat surface.

10 Fit joints together.

Note: It is possible to make a Flush or a Horn Joint with the same parts. Make sure the Flat Casing and Sill Nose have

the correct Joints before moving onto Step 11.13

Install Screws11 Locate all Screw Holes. With Screw halfway

tightened, Rotate Screw Head with tool until second Corner Key Screw Hole appears.

12 Inject Caulk into Corner Keys (half a squeeze into one hole per Corner Key).

Install Screws Cont.

Sill Nose: Tighten screws until flush with Flat Casing.

Sill Nose Horn: Make sure Secondary Sill Key is against End Cap. Tighten screw until flush with Flat Casing.

Note: Sill Joint may have an extra hole on the back of the Flat Casing Legs. The open holes allow different Joint types. There are no missing parts.

13 Install #8 x 5/8” Flat Head Screws.

Miter Corners: Start screw into second hole and tighten until head is flush with Flat Casing, then finish tightening first Screw.

Trim Clip Attachment14 Install “H” shaped clips flush with the

bottom of each Door Jamb.

Trim Clip Attachment Cont.15 Install Trim Clips onto Door Frame Corners.

Space Trim Clip 1.5” away

from Corner. Tap two Trim

Clips into each corner.

Note: Install additional trim clip midway between two corner clips. For doors larger than 6068, install additional clips a maximum of 4’ on center.

Note: If installing Flat Casing with Sill Nose, do not place Trim Clips on Transom Sill.

End Plug Installation16

Squeeze foam End Plugs into open ends of Flat Casing and Push foam in until it is flush with end of Flat Casing.

Trim Installation17 Apply 1/4" diameter 2" long beads of sealant to

back of Flat Casing. Space Beads 18" apart.

18 Place clear or color matched sealant into accessory groove along full length of Transom Frame Sill.

Trim Installation

When installing Flat Casing with Sill Nose, slide Sill Nose Lip into Transom Frame Accessory Groove.

19 Push Flat Casing onto Door Frame.

Push Flat Casing (without Sill Hose) onto Door Frame until it seats fully.

Trim Installation Continued

19End of Flat Casing does not easily snap onto "H" clip, so to avoid damaging Flat Casing , place a wood block directly over face end of Flat Casing and tap Flat Casing onto "H" clip.

Clean Up

• Wipe up any excess caulk.• Clean up scuff marks with soap and water.• TiteBond® WeatherMaster Sealant
