Flange Beam in Flexure In the construction of reinforced concrete structural elements concrete slabs and beams are cast monolithic. T and L beams are the most commonly used flanged sections. In a floor consisting of several beams cast monolithically with the slab, the intermediate beams i.e the interacting flange and web produce the cross section having form of the alphabetical letter T is known as T beam. The end beams which have slabs on one side only i.e the interacting flange and web produce the cross section having the typical L-shape is known as L-beams. L- beam is also known as Edge Beam. T and L beams forms a part of the floor system together with slab.
