Our Newly Elected Exco just had its first meeting for the year and have finalised our Strategic FLA Plan 2015. There will be having many exciting activities and events lined up for all our members. FLA will continue to work closely with various government bodies who are our partners to assist our members growth and internationalization. The exciting FLA Asia Exhibition and Conference in October 2015 will be a great venue to source for potential franchisees internationally. There will also be several franchise-matching events in various countries throughout 2015. Opportunities for further branding for our members are also in the pipeline. More information will be released in the near future regarding this high value add branding endeavors. 2015 will see continued opportunities to network, exchange business ideas, explore areas for co-operation, and create business networking opportunities locally and globally for our members. Affiliations and co-operation with relevant organizations to enhance value creation that is beneficial to all parties involved will be important. Overall, FLA is also a platform for our members to obtain exposure and learn from other franchisor’s experience, attend educational activities to further franchising/licensing know how and best practices, be updated on what is happening in the franchise industry globally, just to name a few. We look forward to see more of our members and new members embarking on the franchising, branding and licensing growth journey together with our Association in 2015 and beyond. Michelle graduated with a hospitality
& tourism management honours and
given the passion for events
management, Michelle joined a local
event company upon graduation to
learn the ropes of managing different
types of events. She then moved on
to a career in a local association
where she is part of a team that
organises awards for the SME
community. After gaining
understanding of the SME community
and with the interest to assist
companies in internationalisation,
Michelle took on the role of helping
companies with their overseas
expansion mainly through trade fairs
participation.

hosts a CEO luncheon with a guest whospeaks on topical issues of interest. Theassociation has attracted a host of keypersonalities to date including localrestaurateur Mr Andrew Tjioe, ExecutiveChairman, Tung Lok Group, who is alsothe Chairman of the RestaurantAssociation of Singapore as well as MrSean Flynn, EVP of SilverneedleHospitality.The first CEO luncheon of 2015 washosted by Ms Elim Chew, Founder of 77thStreet and winner of numerousentrepreneurial accolades. The topic forthe luncheon was on the future of retail inSingapore as well as her experience ingrowing brands in Asia. During herremarks, Elim discussed her future plansfor her expansion into China and 77th
Street group upcoming initiatives. Inparticular, she outlined her ideas about therole that Hong Kong and Singapore willplay as China continues to open up itscapital markets and internationlise therenminbi.During the Luncheon, we also met up withnew members like Mr Alvin Tan fromSureClean Singapore, and Mr TommyGan from Daekyo Eye Level. Familiarfaces like Ms Yvonne Chia from Home-FixDIY and Ms Lorraine Tay from Bird & BirdLaw Corporation also graced the event.
