Weatherization Assistance Program

Mission:

…to reduce the monthly energy burden on low-income households by improving the energy efficiency of the home.

Weatherization Types of Assistance

• Address air filtration (blower door testing)– Weather stripping– Caulking– Thresholds– Minor repairs to walls, ceilings & floors– Window replacement– Door replacement

• Insulation– Attic – Attic ventilation

• Install solar reflective coating to manufactured homes

• Install Solar Screens

• Repair of replace heating & cooling units

• Repair or replace water heaters

Weatherization Facts

• Low Income Families pay an average of 19% of their annual income for energy, compared with 5% for other households

• Average annual expenditure in low-income households is $1,871

• The US Department of Energy estimates that these services save the weatherization customers an average of $413 annual and return an average of $2.72 in energy and non-energy related benefits for every dollar invested

Eligible Applicants

• Total Household Income– May not be more than 200% of the national poverty level

• Preference is given to: – Owner-occupied homes– Elderly (60 years+)– Physically Disabled residents– Families with children under 12– Households with a high energy burden

• Is this a grant?– YES! No repayment is required

heaviest water user in the home, accounting for 30%

Shower Head Facts

•High efficiency showerhead reduces water, electric, and sewer bills•Regular showerheads have flow rates of 5-8 gallons per minute•Use 25-40 gallons of water during a 30% of total water consumption 5 minute shower

High efficiency showerhead•Uses 1.5 gallons per minute•7.5 gallons of water per shower•Reducing water demand by 50%**
