I found the enormity of the building to be impres-sive. After entering the building there is a grandlobby with a vertical expanse. Below are studyareas that overlook the lobby.
Jakob H.F. Fjeldes sculpture islocated on the ground level of the lobby.

One thing that I appreciate about the Minneapo-lis Central Library is that it has a piano. The
third oor has the Anna M. Heilmaier PianoRoom, where patrons can reserve practice time.

In the middle of the library there is a self check-out counter with threestations.
Because it is a smaller library, the books on the re-serve shelves are over owing with books that patronshave requested from other libraries.
East Lake offers many different special services for allages--from toddlers to seniors--and posts them for all tosee.

Museum Library, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, 2400 Third Avenue South, Minneapolis, Min-nesota, 55404,
This library was a little harder to nd, as it is tucked away inside the Minneapolis In -
stitute of Arts. The building makes a huge C shape and the library is at the other endof the C from the entrance, but there is a shortcut. Rather then enter the museumthrough the lobby, exit the lobby and walk across the outdoor courtyard.

The library is located through the Target Wing Entrance, everything was really aestheti-cally pleasing.
Before entering thelibrary there is an oper-tunity to see some of themuseums art, directlyoutside the door to thelibrary.

This was the smallest library I visited. It primarily serves museum-goers and students interested in doingonsite research on artists in the MIAs collection. The library also facilitates the needs of the MIA staff. The library is staffed by three librarians, Minneapolis College of Art and Design work study students, andinterns.
The library feels cozy, but it also has four Internet terminals withthe librarys catalogue listed online.

The Lindell Library seems more open and welcoming than many other libraries I have visited. There isa nice brick exterior that continues into the interior. There are balconies that provide a sense of open-ness, which, along with the large windows, provide a lot of natural light to the library. The circulationand reserve desk and balconies are curved and made of wood or have wood trim.
There are eight professionallibrarians working in theLindell Library. Everyoneworking there seemed veryenthousiasticly supportiveand encouraging to the stu-dents. The Lindell Library isnot only for Augsburg Col-lege students, as other collegestudents are also welcome, which is indicated by the signgreeting library users at theentrance.

Everything about the library was inspiring, from the architecture to the decorative art.Lindell Librarys attention to detail seemed to rival the MIA Librarys status as a place toabsorb art.
There are lots of comfortable padded chairs and small individual and group tables with wood chairs.

I was impressed by the area dedicated to their Micro lm Collection, where there are, among otherthings, thousands of issues from hundreds of alternative / underground newspapers.
