FIVE ATHLETES ON HERMANN TROPHY WATCH LIST
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — The Pac-12 Conference has five players on the 42-athlete watch list for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, the highest individual award in collegiate soccer. Stanford senior Teresa Noyola and junior Courtney Verloo represent the Cardinal on the list, and are accompanied by UCLA senior Sydney Leroux, Oregon State senior Colleen Boyd and Washington junior Kate Deines. Noyola is a two-time NSCAA first-team All-American and is coming off career highs in goals (10) and assists (12). Verloo earned NSCAA third-team All-America honors as a sophomore in 2010. Leroux scored 13 goals last year, while Boyd notched a school-record 14 shutouts and Deines dropped nine goals on the season. According to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the 15 semi-finalists are announced in late November, and then reduced to three finalists soon after. The Hermann Trophy winner will be announced Jan. 6, 2012. Stanford graduate Christen Press won the 2010 Hermann Trophy.

ASU’S COOK NAMED BANK OF THE WEST PAC-12 WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — ARIZONA STATE forward Sierra Cook has been named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Nov. 1-7, Commis-sioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.
The senior scored both of ASU’s goals in the Sun Devils’ 2-1 victory over rival Arizona on Friday. The two goals tied her single-game career high, which she has achieved two other times.
Cook wrapped up her collegiate career by scoring three goals in her !nal two match-es, including two game-winning goals. She also ends the season as ASU’s leader in points (18) and goals (8), and is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (2).
This is Cook’s !rst career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and the 14th all-time selection for ASU.
The Sun Devils concluded their season Friday at Arizona.

Cal and Washington State came out on top, but that was not the case for Oregon State, who fell to Portland (1-1 2OT, 7-6 PKs). The remaining teams, top-seeded Stanford and two-seed UCLA, beat their opponents by a collective 4-0 tally.
Washington State (12-6-4) at No. 2 Virginia (15-4-2) 4 p.m. PT Charlottesville, Va.After defeating Kentucky in penalty kicks in the !rst round, the Cougars advance to the second round for the second time in the last three seasons. The winner of Friday’s match at Virginia, who !nished the regular season at No. 8 in the NSCAA poll, faces Virginia Tech or third-seed Texas A&M on Sunday in Charlottesville.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — In a vote by the Conference coaches, STANFORD forward Lindsay Taylor has been named Pac-12 Player of the Year, Stanford forward Chioma Ubogagu has been named Freshman of the Year and Cardinal head coach Paul Ratcliffe has been named Pac-12 Coach of the Year, Com-missioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday.
Pac-12 Player of the Year: Lindsay Taylor, StanfordTaylor, a native of Los Altos, Calif., is Stanford’s seventh player all-time and the third-straight to be named Conference Player of the Year. The senior !nished her !nal regular season as the Pac-12 leader in goals (17) and points (38), anchoring the nation’s third-most productive offense. She was the NSCAA National Player of the Week in mid-September, the same week she earned her second of two career Pac-12 Player of the Week honors. Taylor is also a three-time All-Conference honoree, and is part of the senior class that has a regular-season record of 75-1-1 and never lost a match at home.
Pac-12 Freshman of the Year: Chioma Ubogagu, StanfordUbogagu wasted no time getting comfortable with the Cardinal, producing eight goals and nine assists in her !rst regular season. The Coppell, Texas, native is in the Pac-12’s top !ve in six statistical catego-ries, including the second-highest mark for assists, sitting behind teammate Teresa Noyola. Ubogagu was named Pac-12 Player of the Week in October after scoring two goals against then-No. 3 UCLA.
Pac-12 Coach of the Year: Paul Ratcliffe, StanfordThree is a magic number for Ratcliffe: He has been voted the Conference’s top coach for the third straight year after putting together three consecutive undefeated regular seasons, making this year’s squad the third team in history to do so. He also led the Cardinal to its third Conference championship in three years. The two-time NSCAA National Coach of the Year boasts a 152-35-19 (.738) record in his nine years with the program, including a staggering 89-4-4 (.918) since 2008. Stanford !nished as NCAA runners-up in 2009 and 2010 and has never missed the postseason under Ratcliffe’s watch.
