Mercy Health Foundation Washington | 2017 Annual Report | 1

Dear Friends of Mercy,

Mercy Health Foundation ended the 2017 fiscal year with a total of $179,194 donated to Mercy Hospital Washington and Mercy Four Rivers Clinic for capital and program support. While a lot of this support came from various fundraising options, substantial contributions came from our giving societies: Women with a Mission and Mercy Corporate Partners. Both of the societies have grown in capacity to garner new support for so many needs in the Four Rivers region.

Women with a Mission donated a variety of items to the Washington community, including a pediatric crib, PlusOpix special vision screener for pediatric patients in the McAuley Clinic and a Nustep Recumbent Cross Trainer and Monark Rehab Trainer for the Cardio Pulmonary Rehab Center.

Due to the efforts of Mercy’s Corporate Partners, the McAuley Dental Clinic continues to thrive with more than 10,000 patients served to date.

Behavioral Health Services continues to grow and is now seeing adolescents as well as adults. To ensure patients without insurance have access to vital medications and equipment to manage their health conditions, the Foundation established the Care Management Fund to support these urgent needs. Through this fund, members of the hospital hope to see a reduction in unnecessary hospitalized days and prevention of readmissions until more permanent resources are available.

Our newest philanthropic initiative is to raise funds for Cardiology. Members of the Foundation have launched a Cardiology Funding Campaign to raise $2.1 million over five years. We are happy to announce that $700,000 has already been committed towards this important goal. The fall of 2017 will mark the beginning of the public phase for this funding campaign. The need is great and timing is imperative.

The campaign will supply a newly renovated space for our inpatient cardiac testing area and the Nuclear Medicine Suite. As technology advances, Mercy will secure new state-of-the-art equipment housed in this area as well as in Mercy’s South Building. It is estimated that the need for cardiac services in Washington and the Four Rivers region will grow by 10 percent over the next five years. With the commitment to this campaign, Mercy Health Foundation stands ready to assist Mercy’s ministry in delivering transformational and quality care to our community. With the help of our Mercy friends, business leaders and the community as a whole, we are confident that we will reach our goal.

Mercy remains dedicated to the patients and families who rely on our ministry for their health care and wellness. We thank each of our donors and Mercy friends for helping our Foundation make a difference in so many lives.

Sincerely,

In April, members met at Hillermann Nursery and Florist in Washington. They heard a presentation by a Master Gardner and learned about the health benefits of herbs.

kicked off the evening by sharing her story. The next day, four female executives from Walmart participated in a question and answer session, followed by our keynote speakers Barbara Pierce Bush and Jenna Bush Hager. The event was emceed by St. Louis’ very own Channel 4 anchor, Claire Kellet. A great time was had by all!

In December, Mercy East members gathered for a holiday party at Mercy Virtual Care Center (VCC). Ladies enjoyed cocktails, toured the VCC and learned about Mercy’s Virtual Ambulatory program. The evening ended with an ornament exchange.

In February, Drs. John and Ann Elizabeth Mohart gave a presentation called “Women and Heart Health.” In addition, Mary Shofner, grateful patient and WWAM member, shared her journey about how she changed her habits after having two heart attacks.

Women with a Mission – Four Rivers

This past year, Women with a Mission members allocated $34,000 to Mercy Four Rivers.

Over 250 guests gathered to celebrate the 2016 Harvest Gala. This bi-annual event was held at the Country Club at St. Albans, with all proceeds benefiting Mercy Hospital Washington’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

There is an urgent and growing need in Franklin County, Missouri, for behavioral health care services. With a shortage of both licensed psychiatrists and mental health inpatient facilities, behavioral health problems faced by individuals and families have become compounded by the lack of access to care, as well as difficulty in affording care.

Mercy’s Harvest Gala raised $158,000 for this very important need in the community.

Our Corporate PartnersMercy Health Foundation held its second annual Corporate Partners Recognition Luncheon on June 12 at Mercy Medical Building South. Since the start of the society, membership has grown to 20 members. The Corporate Partners giving society is designed to allow businesses an opportunity to play a meaningful part in shaping health care in the community. Society members pledge a three-year investment to support dental, behavioral health or cardiology initiatives. The luncheon is one of the ways our partner businesses are recognized. Other society benefits include medical education opportunities for partners’ co-workers led by Mercy providers and recognition in Corporate Partners informational materials.
