July Birthdays in Abundance! Last Thursday, July 23, the Fabulous Faithful Folders came for the folding, but stayed for the sweets. We celebrated several July Birthdays that we knew of, knowing we likely overlooked a few more. We downed some non-alcoholic bubbly and had cupcakes in honor of Faye Brock, Nick Rebbe, Susan Pearson, Jane Fraser, Lynda Harris and Beth Sheahan. And Doug Hall’s birthday was the 29th. Beth tried the two-handed pan- demic wave to blow out her candle. Nick snapped out his flame with a sharp clap. Susan Pearson got conversation- starter questions as a gift from Joyce Laabs and we all sat around the table an- swering the questions and sharing stories. It was a short taste of the good-old days … like way back in early March 2020.

July Birthdays in Abundance!
Last Thursday, July 23, the Fabulous Faithful Folders came for the folding,
but stayed for the sweets.
We celebrated several July Birthdays that we knew of, knowing we likely
overlooked a few more. We downed some non-alcoholic bubbly and had
cupcakes in honor of Faye Brock, Nick Rebbe, Susan Pearson, Jane Fraser,
Lynda Harris and Beth
Sheahan. And Doug Hall’s
birthday was the 29th.
Beth tried the
two-handed pan-
demic wave to
blow out her
candle. Nick
snapped out his
flame with a
sharp clap.
Susan Pearson
got conversation-
starter questions
as a gift from Joyce Laabs and we all sat around the table an-
swering the questions and sharing stories. It was a short taste of
the good-old days … like way back in early March 2020.
August - The 20 committees and programs of the church meet to plan goals and activities for the coming year. Finances needed to accomplish these goals are identified and each committee/program formulates a budget.
September - Committee/Program budgets are presented to the church treasurer who combines them into a preliminary budget and presents it to the Finance Com-mittee for deliberation. The Diaconate and Session review the preliminary budget at their monthly meetings.
October – The Finance Committee finalizes the budget and presents it to the Diac-onate. Session approves the final budget for presentation to the congregation. Each member receive a letter with the budget, a brief explanation, and a pledge card.
November – Presentations are made during worship each week and at WATCH about the impact of the budget on the programs and activities of the church. Com-mitment Sunday is observed on the Sunday before Thanksgiving when members bring their completed pledge cards to the altar.
December – The Finance Committee compares pledges received with the proposed budget and makes any necessary adjustments. The Diaconate reviews the budget
and passes it on to the Session for final approval.
