★ Bible/Character Study:
○ Orderliness: Doing everything at the proper time and in its
proper order.
○ Memorize by Week 11, October 29th:
■ Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky
above proclaims his handiwork.”
○ Family Discussion: We discussed in our classes about
alphabetical order, number order, sentence order, history
timeline to show order, etc. Orderliness in our studies helps
us to understand things better and make sense of things. The
story of the Creation is a beautiful example of the
orderliness of God. From the beginning of time and for all
eternity our God has been and will always be a God of
orderliness. Imagine Him numbering the stars and calling them by
name (Psalm 147:4). What a mighty God we serve!!! Review or
reread the story of creation in Genesis chapter 1 thru Genesis
2:3. Discuss some of the things in God’s creation that are
orderly and organized. Notice the order in which God created
everything. You might like to read all of Genesis chapter 2 and
discuss God’s orderliness in the Garden of
Eden.
○ Family Activity: Sometimes this month, take a nature walk with
your family. As you walk, discuss the orderliness of His
creation. Discuss the seasons and the orderliness at which
they occur. One night, go outside and look at the
moon. Discuss its phases. Our God is an awesome
God!!
○ Sing: All Creatures of our God and King a few times this
week.

○ Extension (Optional): Family activity: For the rest of the
month of October, use the attached sheet on orderliness as a
guide to help your family become more orderly. There are some
suggestions that you might like to do.
★ History:
○ Read aloud Chapter 9 ‘The Mystery of Mohenjo-Daro’, pages
62-65, to your child. (We discussed pages 59-61 in class.)
Have your child answer these questions orally:
■ What is a citadel? A stronghold at the center of a
city.
■ Tell me some of the things that the people of the Indus Valley
built. Citadels, drains, houses from mud bricks, toilets,
public baths.
■ What did the quail decide to do, so that they could escape the

○ History Copywork: Copy the history sentences on the history
sheet correctly and neatly. Practice reading the
sentence
○ History Narration: After you have read the history assignment
to your child, have your child tell you about something that
you've just read. Write their version down in the history
workbook. The narrations are usually two to five sentences.
Have them illustrate their narration and add a
caption.
★ Literature:
○ The Real Story of Creation Review – Complete the attached
sheet.
○ Seeker of Knowledge by James Rumford.
■ Parents, as we begin our study of the book Seeker of Knowledge
it is important to note that none of the pages in the book are
numbered. For reference purposes, please number every page in
your book. Page 1 will begin on the front inside cover. Page 2
then, will be the opposite page referencing “3200 B.C.” You
should conclude with the back inside cover labeled page 34.

○ Complete the “1st Grade Creative Writing” worksheet.
■ Parents, first, have your child draw the picture. Next,
instead of having your student copy the first two sentences,
please have him/her underline the nouns and circle the verbs
in the sentence. For the third sentence, please have your
child correct the sentence by adding/fixing the
missing/broken elements. (Your child may do this on the
printed sentence - the sentence does not have to be
re-written.)
★ Penmanship:
○ Copywork: Draw Write Now - Draw the background for the animal
and copy the last two sentences from page 14 into your Draw
Write Now red folder.

Ways to Demonstrate Orderliness
Orderliness - Doing everything at the proper time and in its
proper order. Showing Orderliness:
● To God- Arrange your schedule to begin each day by spending
time with the Lord. Maintain a prayer journal. Recognize and
dedicate yourself to His plan and purpose for your
life.
● To Parents- Follow your family's schedule. Maintain a clean
and orderly room. Take the initiative and tidy the house for
your parents.
● To Teachers- Complete your work in a timely and orderly way.
Use self-control. ● To Church Leaders- Arrive on time for
church services. Sit quietly during the
church services. Pray daily for church leaders. Help keep the
church buildings and grounds clean by keeping your areas
neat.

"Little Things" by Elisabeth Elliot
When we were growing up our parents taught us, by both word and
example, to pay attention to little things. If you do a thing
at all, do it thoroughly: make the sheets really smooth on the
bed, sweep all the corners and move all the chairs when you
sweep the kitchen, roll the toothpaste tube neatly and put the cap
back on, clean the hair out of your brush each time you use
it, hang your towels straight on the rod, fold your napkin and
put it into the silver ring before you leave the table, never
wet your finger when you turn pages. They kept promises made to us
as faithfully as they kept those made to adults. They taught
us to do the same. You didn't accept an invitation to a party
and then not turn up, or agree to help with a Vacation Bible
School class and back out because a more interesting
activity presented itself...When I went to boarding school the
same principles I had been taught at home were emphasized.
There was a hallway, with small oriental rugs, which we called
"Character Hall" because the headmistress, Mrs. DuBose, could
look down that hall from the armchair where she sat in the
lobby and spot any student who kicked up a corner of the rug
and did not replace it. She would call out to correct him,
"It's those tiny little things in your life which will crack you up
when you get out of this school!" In the little things our
character was revealed. Our response would make or break us.
"Don't go around with a Bible under your arm if you
didn't sweep under the bed," she said, for she would have no
pious talk coming out of a messy room.
It is not easy to find children or adults who are dependable,
careful, thorough, and faithful. So many lives seem
honeycombed with small failures, neglectful of the little
things that make the difference between order and chaos. Perhaps it
is because they are so seldom taught that visible things are
signs of an invisible reality; that common duties may be "an
immeasurable ministry of love." The spiritual training of
souls must be inseparable from practical disciplines, as Jesus so
plainly taught; "the man who can be trusted in little things
can be trusted in great; the man

who is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in great. If
then you cannot be trusted with money, that tainted thing, who
will trust you with genuine riches! And if you cannot be
trusted with what is not yours, who will give you what is your
very own?" (Luke 16:10-12 JB).

Projects
● Organize your personal belongings - drawers, closet, desk,
toys, books, collections, etc. Ask for guidance if you are not
naturally organized. Ask your parents to help label drawers,
provide storage space, and inspect on a regular
basis.
● Work with your father/mother in organizing the garage,
basement, pantry, tool box, bookshelves, etc.
● With your parents' guidance, select a method for organizing
your responsibilities and schedule - calendar, notebook,
planning book, etc.
● With your parents' guidance, list the tasks you should do
during the next week. Prioritize the tasks.
● Design a project with a deadline. List all elements of the
project and schedule your time in order to finish by the
deadline.
● Write a plan that will guide you in reading through the entire
Bible in one year. ● Choose one goal you would like to
reach in your spiritual life (i.e., reading the
Bible every day, learning to study the Bible, memorizing more
Scripture, showing Christ-like love to others, overcoming a
particular habitual sin). Make a list of steps you can take to
reach that goal.
● Learn how to set the table properly. ● Begin
keeping a prayer journal.
Consider and Discuss the Following Questions with Your

time wisely to meet deadlines, or is he\she always
hurrying to complete tasks at the last minute? ● Can

Treat this like a test. Do not correct their papers while
they’re working on it. Grade their completed papers. We want to be
able to see where they need more practice. Grade the paper
according to the points on the answer key.
Front:Section 1 #1-5: “Let’s spell some words for our
assessment. I’ll say a word. Write the letter or letters that make
each sound in the word on the lines by #1. The first word is
‘hot.’” Continue with #2 through#5.2. had 4. stop3. got 5. fast
Section 2 #6-9: “Look at the letter by #6. Draw a line from the
letter to its keyword picture.” Repeat with #7-8.
