Thank you to all who helped with the Worship Service at Harrison Smith Park on July 29. The Outreach committee did a wonderful job making all the reservations, getting donations, setting up and serving the meal. Thank you. The Worship committee helped plan the service and make it happen. Kristin and Andy Ealy got all the necessary stuff from the church to the park and back again. Thank you all who attended and those who brought friends. It was a lovely day and a good experience worshiping in the beauty of God’s creation. Throughout the month of August, the Gospel readings for each Sunday will come from the sixth chapter of John. We will hear Jesus tell the crowds, his disciples, and us, “I am the bread of life”. The “I am” connects reminds us that Jesus is God. When God spoke to Moses from the burning bush and Moses asked God’s name, God said, “I am”. The life Jesus gives is more than just earthly life. When Satan confronted Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus told him, “No one can live by bread alone.” Jesus is the bread of life. Come each Sunday to hear the continuity of this part of Jesus’ story. Come share in receiving Jesus, the Bread of Life. Peace, Pastor Kathy
As school begins again, and school activities, please let me know of any sports, music or other activities you or your children are involved in and schedules. I will
try to make it to at least one home game and other activities I know about.

Kristin’s Report
- On behalf of Christian Ed, Scholarship Applications were made available on bulletin board with announcements being made. We only expect one applicant for this year.
- Bought and set up the bookshelves for the meeting room, Lynn has since moved books from library to the meeting room and the library will begin to hold and shelve commodities.
- Been cleaning out banner room, office, and any other nook and cranny. Set up a table in South Room to put things on for people to take what they want. (tables will disappear for VBS) The closets in the large east end room downstairs will be cleaned up after VBS with help from a few members.
Old Business:
- Synod Assembly June 8 and 9 accomplished by Betty Martin, John Stoneburner and Linda Welker along with Pr. Kathy. Not a big year for big ticket items but was, as always, an enjoyable experience. Synod Assembly will not be held in 2019 so the next will come in 2020.
- Summer Food Program: Lynn has successfully taken the reigns from Karen Magers. She has enlisted help from Angeline Industries to perform needed tasks.
- Summer Worship on Thursdays is doing okay, reaching few that wouldn’t make Sundays. Regular attendees equal 6, then others joining in each week.
- Outdoor Worship July 29th
New Business:
- REACH: this year the money for the t-shirt sponsorship was drawn from the Olpp Family Trust account. That account will have roughly $800 remaining. Council will have to think about IF they continue to support REACH in this manner where the money will be coming from for the future. We have money in the Christian Education funds earmarked for REACH, however that column listing (refer to financials) is only for $1,200. Council should think on, within the next 2 months, if they would like to add more to this line in the budget or if there is somewhere else they would like to use money from, if this sponsorship continues.
- Budget additions/corrections will need to be thought off on each committee’s part. If you desire a change to your budget items, please have that in writing ready for the Financial Gurus by September 30, 2018.
Discussion: Al brought up discussion about getting a tester for the sanctuary to see what/if
allergens or chemicals may be in air that causes aches and allergies to occur. This has come to others attention after the installation of carpet. There is a device that can be brought in and will test the air etc. Motion to purchase the kit and use it to determine issues was made by Rita Bennett, Jean Gottfried second. MC
Council Reports
Christian Education: finishing up touches on the Prayground.
Facilities: Cement work was completed around needed areas by Chuck Gottfried and Dick
Newell. Revisited conversation about accordion doors coming in around $16,000. Alternatives to be discussed. Planning a meeting in August.
Worship & Music: met last week to go over any final plans for the Outdoor service. Lisa
invited Outreach chairpersons, Rita and Jean to be present. On W&M parts all seems to be going well. Canned Music will be broadcasted instead of live. Podium taken down for Pr. Kathy to utilize and amps will be present for sound.
Finance: see Financial Worksheets (in Cross Hall)
Outreach: Various discussions on July 29th service. Advertising, weather issues, and
cookie plans finalized. All seems to be ready to go! Most items are coming donated or partially donated!
