First Aid at Work FAW
This First Aid at Work FAW (3 Day Course) is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within
industry wishing to become a qualified First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and
Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (NI) 1982.
The recommended course duration is 3 days and the following topics covered including: the roles and
responsibilities of the First Aider: assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and
illness, assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness, chest injuries, spinal injuries
and anaphylaxis.
Course Content
Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for
recording incidents and actions.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
This Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is recommended for nominated emergency first aiders
in workplaces with lower health and safety risks. It is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health
and safety risks where a nominated or appointed person is required to take charge in the event of an illness
or accident.

First Aid at Work Refresher (FAWR)
Our First Aid at Work Refresher (FAWR) updates the first aid skills for people who need to renew their
statutory first aid at work certificate and whose existing certificate is still in date.
Who should attend? This First Aid at Work Refresher course is for people wishing to renew a valid first
aid at work certificate.
Please note: If you allow your certificate to expire. You will then have 28 days after the expiry date to
book onto this course or you will have to attend the First Aid at Work (3 day).

First Aid Annual Refresher Course is strongly recommended by the HSE for all qualified first aiders

First Aid for Schools and Colleges
This course is for schools and colleges who have already met their statutory requirements in terms of
equipping their staff with either a Level 3 First at Work certificate or an Level 2 Emergency First Aid at
work certificate but who require staff to have additional cover for certain activities such as residential trips,
sporting activities and out of hours clubs etc.
It is also suitable for schools that have varying age ranges of children e.g. independent schools catering for
1-18 year olds and Middle schools catering for 9-13 year olds.
These staff may not necessarily require a full three day course but may need to have some focus spent on
elements of first aid that are specifically relevant to their working practice e.g. Sports teachers like to have
a greater understanding of head and skeletal injuries and asthma as these problems may occur during
sporting activities.
Please note: This course does not replace the need for the First Aid in the Workplace or Paediatric First
Aid training courses.

The Fire Safety for Fire Marshall and Warden is a qualification aimed at anyone involved in

Assessment: The trainer will check understanding, involvement and the ability of all students throughout
the duration of the course.
Certification: On successful completion of the course students will receive a certificate which is valid for
1 year.
