SPRAYS WATER IN FINELY DIVIDED DROPLETS TRAVELLING AT HIGH OR MEDIUM VELOCITY TO GIVE PROTECTION TO THE FIRE AFFECTED AREA.

THE SPRAY SYSTEM CAN CONTROL FIRE IN THREE WAYS :

SMOOTHERING: BY DIRECTLY COOLING THE SURFACE OF THE LIQUID, THUS REDUCING THE RATE OF VAPOURISITION

BLANKETING : BY PRODUCING STEAM WHICH DILUTES THE AIR AND VAPOUR FEEDING THE FIRE

COOLING: BY INTRODUCING DROPLETS INTO THE FLAME THUS COOLING IT AND REDUCING THE TRANSFER OF HEAT BACK TO THE LIQUID SURFACE

PRESSURISATION SYSTEM

PRESSURISATION OF RING MAINS / SPRAY LINES SHALL BE DONE THROUGH THE COMBINATION OF HYDRO-PNEUMATIC TANK, JOCKEY PUMPS AND AIR COMPRESSORS (2 X 100%CAPACITY)

MINOR LEAKAGE IN THE PRESSURISED FIRE WATER SYSTEM SHALL BE REPLENISHED FROM HP TANK.

HP TANK SHALL BE FILLED WITH JOCKEY PUMP UPTO ½ OR 2/3 OF THE PORTION.

TANK PRESSURE WILL BE MAINTAINED WITH DEDICATED AIR COMPRESSOR.CAPACITY OF JOCKEY PUMPS

IN ORDER TO AVOID TOTAL FLOODING OF THE AREA IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE IN A PARTICULAR ZONE, THE AREA IS DIVIDED INTO NO.OF ZONES

EACH ZONE WILL HAVE SEPARATE WATER SUPPLY NETWORK CONTROLLED BY A DELUGE VALVE.

IN THE EVENT OF FIRE IN ANY ZONE, DELUGE VALVE OF CORRESPONDING ZONE AND THOSE OFADJACENT ZONE ON EITHER SIDE SHALL BE OPENED.

EACH STREAM CONSIST OF 105 CYLINDERS.

GAS IS RELEASED INTO DISCHARGE MANIFOLD THROUGH SOLENOID VALVES FROM THE CYLINDERS.

FROM DISCHARGE MANIFOLD GAS GOES TO EFFECTED ZONE THROUGH DIRECTION VALVES.

CYLINDER FITTED WITH ELECTRICAL ACTUATOR (SOLENOID) ON THE CYLINDER VALVE ARE TERMED AS “ MASTER CYLINDER”, WHEREAS THE REMAINING CYLINDERS TERMED AS “SLAVE”

REQUIREMENT OF “INERGEN” GAS QUANTITY :

TO EXTINGUISH A FIRE USING AN INERT GAS, THE OXYGEN LEVEL IN THE PROTECTED VOLUME HAS TO BE REDUCED.

FOR A STANDARD “INERGEN” SYSTEM , THE EFFECTIVE DESIGN CONCENTRATION FOR EXTINGUISHING SHALL BE 37.5% OF INERGEN GAS LEVEL .

THUS REDUCING THECONCENTRATION OF O2 TO THE REQUIRED LEVEL.

SENSING ELEMENT OF THE DETECTOR IS AN OPTICAL CHAMBER OPERATING ON THE SCATTERED LIGHT EFFECT

AN INFRARED LIGHT EMITTING DIODE IS BEAMED INTO THE CHAMBER

THIS LIGHT DOES NOT REACH THE PHOTOCELL DIRECTELY, BUT SMALL AMOUNT OF LIGHT IS SCATTERED ENTERS THE PHOTOCELL

IF SMOKE ENTERS THE CHAMBER, MORE LIGHT WILL BE SCATTERED, AND THE SIGNAL FROM PHOTOCELL INCREASES
