RESORT MUNICIPALITY OF WHISTLER FIREARMS REGULATION AMENDMENT BYLAW (BOW HUNTING) NO. 1964, 2011 A Bylaw to amend Firearms Regulation Bylaw No. 874, 1991 WHEREAS the Council of the Resort Municipality of Whistler has adopted Firearm Regulation Bylaw, No. 874, 1991; and WHEREAS the Council of the Resort Municipality of Whistler deems it necessary and expedient to amend Firearm Regulation Bylaw, No. 874, 1991; NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Resort Municipality of Whistler, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: TITLE 1. This Bylaw may be cited as “Firearms Regulation Amendment Bylaw (Bow Hunting) No. 1964, 2011”. DEFINITIONS 2. Section 2 of Firearm Regulation Bylaw, No. 874, 1991 is amended as follows: (a) The following defined terms are inserted before “Firearm”: “Bow” means a longbow or crossbow as defined in the BC Wildlife Act. “Crossbow” means a bow fixed across a stock with a groove for the arrow or bolt and a mechanism for holding and releasing the string as defined in the BC Wildlife Act. (b) The following defined term is inserted after “Firearm”: “Longbow” includes a longbow, recurve bow and a compound bow as defined in the BC Wildlife Act. PERMISSIONS AND PROHIBITIONS 2. The attached Schedule A and Schedule B be added to Firearm Regulation Bylaw, No. 874, 1991. 3. Section 3 is amended with the addition of: “The use of bows is prohibited in the Resort Municipality of Whistler in the areas shown on Maps 1 and 2 attached to this bylaw”.
