Subcommittee’s Task

• Will a 3 or 4 bay fire station fit on the sites under consideration?

• Footprint (sq. ft. and acres) – 0.8 acre minimum

• Buffer (sq. ft. and acres) – 1 to 1.5 acres to provide buffer zone

• Parking Spaces for approx. 12 cars

• Meet current and future personnel needs = 2 or 3 Double Bunk Rooms

1. Glebe and Yorktown – Least Viable Option- Meets minimum size requirements only if 3 lots acquired

- No evidence that owners are willing to sell lots

- Exit onto Yorktown Blvd. limits quick access to Glebe Rd.

2. 26th and Old Dominion (Arlington County Salt Dome) – Viable Option- Meets minimum size requirements w/o land acquisition

- Exits onto major arterial street (only two-lanes)

- Eliminates/reduces existing green space

3. Current Fire Station 8 Site and Adjacent Properties – Viable Option- Meets minimum size requirement w/ land acquisition

- Exits onto major arterial street

- Allows drive-thru apparatus bay
