Course 10: Hydraulic Calculations for Sprinkler Systems (Two Parts) Date: May 2, 2017 Time: 8 am - 5 pm Duration: 8 Hours Course Synopsis: Hydraulic Calculations for Sprinkler Systems, Part 1 This four-hour course introduces the participants to the basics of hydraulic calculations including sprinkler operating pressure, elevation pressure, and friction‐loss. This course will examine the density/area approach to determine design criteria including water demand for sprinklers and hose allowance. A review of the common system configurations is conducted examining the benefits of each. The requirements for performing hydraulic calculations as per NFPA 13 are discussed including the required forms, C‐values, and equivalent length. Hydraulic Calculations for Sprinkler Systems, Part 2 This four-hour course builds on Course One by reviewing hydraulic principles for calculating specific application sprinklers using minimum K‐factors and pressure. The principles for determining the hydraulically most demanding area are reviewed along with changing the sprinkler area of coverage, density, and orifice size to find the most efficient system layout and configuration. The calculation concepts for using looped and gridded configurations are examined. Audience: Contractors, COC's, AHJ Required NFPA Standard: NFPA 13 (not included) Class 10 will be held at: Shoreline Fire Department 17525 Aurora Avenue North Shoreline, WA 98133 Instructor: Fire Smarts, LLC
