FINEPRINT February 2016 #358 Hastings Valley Fine Art Association Inc. PO Box 8044 Port Macquarie 2444 www.hastingsvalleyart.net.au Gallery Changeover & Exhibition Opening Our current exhibition is impressive! Pictured left is part of the “flower room”, Overall, the paintings are varied in styles with our abstraction focus evident in many of the works. Our opening night function attracted a good number of art lovers. Don’t forget our special meeting on March 8 with Noella Lopez & Jane Hosking to discuss “Confluence” 1pm Gallery, followed by afternoon tea Presidents Report for February Hello Members, A month’s gone by already in 2016 and we thought last year was busy and it was very successful with our10th Summer Showcase and our gallery going from strength to strength, but already this year is shaping up to be a very active year. First cab off the rank is our third exhibition at the Glasshouse “Pathways to Abstraction”. Opening night is the 5 th of February and runs through to 20th March. The Association has a number of activities during the exhibition which is listed in this edition. We have met with the Manning Regional Gallery new director Noella Lopez and Curator Jane Hosking along with members of Taree and Great Lakes art groups for our joint exhibition, Confluence. Noella expressed views that broaden the criteria from our original ideas on the meaning of “Confluence” see Kim Madden’s article in this issue. The date of the exhibition has been changed to17 th November 2016 - 22 nd January 2017. We have invited both Noella and Jane to a special meeting on the 8 th March to address the members and they have agreed so to find out more please attend. (See special notice in this issue) Arising from the Summer Showcase while it did not meet other years’ expectation on sales and profit, we have made enough after our costs to donate $ 1000 to the Hastings Women and children’s Refuge. With the donation from Slice of Haven last year of $600 we have now donated $1600 to the refuge which is a good achievement. Brian Barker President
