Nick’s innovative contemporary landscapes reflect his fascination with both the drama and tranquility of the river and its banks.
He is drawn to the movement and the patterns made by the flowing water and in the plant life on the banks, and is captivated by the light and colours which change dramatically from one moment to the next, from day to day and season to season.
Nick paints in the studio working from a range of sources: sketchbooks, photos, previous paintings and his own visual memories of the subject. He is a ‘physical’ artist, moving the canvas from place to place and painting with great energy and movement, using a range of media and a water spray which helps him to create transitory effects.
His work has been exhibited to great acclaim throughout the UK, mainland Europe, and the USA.
Please contact the gallery to discuss the availability of these exquisite original paintings.

BARRY HILTON
Barrys work never aims to duplicate the actual
colours of the landscape, but rather conveys the creative imagination of a genuine
artistic talent.
He builds up each composition in layers to give
a remarkable, almost ethereal feeling of depth
as his smooth, finely painted skies contrast with
the heavy impasto technique of the land as it
appears in his highly coloured foreground.
Effective juxtaposition of differing shades
defines each scene to stunning effect,
especially when the light falls on to the
heavy layer of paint which in turn scatters its
luminous rays in many directions.
Barry was born in Manchester in 1941.
Although painting and drawing always
played a crucial role in his life and he
achieved a first class B.A.(hons) degree in
Ceramics and Tableware Design.
It was not until he moved to Cornwall in
1979 that he first thought of painting as
a possible profession. Here he entered
a period of his life that had a profound
influence on the remainder of his artistic
career, meeting and working alongside
a group of extremely active artists which
led to considerable development of his
artistic abilities.
Barry continues to develop his style and
technique, and is now a mature artist at
the height of his powers.

his long and distinguished career.
The tempo and cadence of the human figure are brought

These powerful, large scale works add depth
and gravitas to an already outstanding oeuvre,
as he proves himself to be as adept in three
dimensions as in two.
They are created using the traditional lost-
wax method, an ancient process which dates
from the third millennium BC. The sculptor
creates the original figure in wax, then coats it
with plaster in order to make a mold. The wax
is then heated and poured away leaving the
hollow mold ready to be used in the casting
of the pure bronze sculpture. The work may
then be finished by hand, and Fabian has used
a unique and spectacular green-tinted patina
Each piece has then been mounted on a black
granite base to ensure that they are perfectly
balanced for display.
Each sculpture is accompanied by a beautiful
Certificate of Authenticity assuring its quality
and legitimacy. The certificates are signed,
numbered and thumb-printed by the artist,
and are presented in a handmade leather
portfolio. These sculptures will endure
through generations and be passed on as a
legacy from one of the 21st century’s most
inspirational and influential artists.

“My camera is in my hand at all times at
royal ascot, as I work non-stop to capture
the elegance of the day and the mood
amongst race goers. It’s a real privilege
to be a part of this great British tradition;
over the years I have been here on so many
occasions and have enjoyed seeing
how the fashions may change but the
excitement remains constant.
I would love to think that in the future my
paintings will be looked at by people with
memories of different times from the

SHERREE VALENTINE DAINES
Sherree is a warm and inspirational individual, and her
sunlit artwork reflects the things she loves and believes
in. We all have moments in our lives that are special, and
we may try to preserve them in our minds or be lucky
enough to have a camera to hand to record them. But
Sherree’s unique gift is to capture those moments in the
detail of a feather on a hat or a shadow on a lawn and
breathe life into the memories.
Her impressionistic approach eliminates artificial hard
edges, yet she describes her subjects in finely rendered
detail. Her expert handling of contrasting textures
creates an authenticity and accuracy
that imbues her work with an
unrivalled closeness and intimacy
between viewer and subject.
“children on the beach seem
to radiate a happy innocence and I
love to paint these timeless images.
The whole experience is so
alternative to their day-to-day
lives, and I have never seen
a child who isn’t captivated
when they find something
moving in their net.
These children are following
in the footsteps of generations
of others before them,
enjoying some of the
best things in life.”
Sherree boasts an impressive array of celebrity admirers which includes several
members of the Royal Family, but has also won over the hearts and minds of the general
public, becoming the artist of choice for celebrity portraits and TV events.
Alongside her original artwork, sales of her canvas editions have placed her in the
top five living best selling artists.

His latest work has been created for his UK tour
this summer, and visualises British culture in his
inimitable style.
Todd says: “this is a special painting for me. i
spent two weeks in the uk studying the British
people and the flow of life, i went through many
drawings before coming up with this final idea -
the first painting i have ever done as an exclusive
for the uk. while i was there i took hundreds of
photos of British pubs and this had a profound
effect on the conception of the frame - i wanted the
framing to feel like the heavy wooden architecture
of the bar so the painting would be in a genuine
home setting.”
Among his countless achievements, he is the artist
of choice for the world’s most high profile showbiz
events and a list of his celebrity collectors (Abbey
Clancey, Sharon Stone, Catherine Zeta-Jones,
Sylvester Stallone, Mary J. Blige, Barry Sonnenfeld)
reads like a Who’s Who of Hollywood and beyond.
His appointment as Official Artist to the GRAMMY®
Awards, and Warner Bros’ invitation to celebrate the
70th Anniversary of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ on canvas
have cemented his position as the world’s most
glamorous artist.
we also have a show stopping series of todd’s

His inimitable style is the result of a fertile
imagination combined with a disciplined
technique, and it has won him both
universal public and critical acclaim.
This summer, the people’s favourite has
given us a heart warming sculpture
and paper edition, both of which show
him at his most inventive and his
most stylish, and can genuinely be
described as classic Hyde.
Doug Hyde’s work has inspired an entire generation of art-lovers.

Doug’s innovative style speaks directly to the
emotions of his audience
by summarising love, desire,
wishes and dreams, and has
turned him into a genuine artist of
the people, for the people.
Doug has built a formidable reputation over the
last few years as ‘the man behind the smile’,
one of the most iconic artworks of the 21st
century. Since he was named as the country’s
best-selling artist and described in a BBC news
broadcast as the most popular living artist in
the UK, his original painting, limited editions
and sculpture have become highly sought-after
collectors’ items.
As well as being the subject of three lavishly
illustrated fine art books, he has been featured
in numerous articles and on national TV and
radio on several occasions, and on a recent tour
of Japan, collectors queued around the block for
an opportunity to meet the man whose artwork
transcends boundaries and crosses continents.
As one of the country’s most consistently
successful artists, he has been the recipient
of several major prizes and his irresistible
characters are attracting an ever growing
number of collectors. Feted by the great and
the good in all walks of life, his work has raised
smiles on the faces of celebrity collectors
including England Manager Roy Hodgson, golfer
Rory McIlroy and movie star Emily Blunt.
Some artwork lends itself
better to sculpture than others.
There are some figures that
translate beautifully into
three dimensions and this is
undeniably the case in the work
of Doug Hyde.
Doug’s much anticipated
new sculpture is

tactile, and makes
a stunning addition to

in any interior setting.

ON THE BUSESPHILIP BISSELL
phillip Bissell is a unique voice on the urban artistic landscape. His powerfully expressive statement pieces are dynamic celebrations of life in the fast lane and vibrate with energy and vitality.
While Philip is very much at home
within the rich tradition of British
cityscape painting, he has boldly
departed from all things conventional
and given us something completely new.
His highly distinctive work
re-examines the angles and
perspectives of familiar sights and
imbues them with an energetic sense of
freedom and caprice.
His unmistakable and adventurous
style plays with our conceptions of
reality and imagination, offering a
fascinating alternative view of London.
The seemingly relaxed, almost sketchy
approach to each scene is belied by the
level of detail contained in every inch of
the canvas.
21 22
Philip’s love of art has been there for
as long as he can remember.
“i recall visiting Birmingham
city art Gallery when i was in my
teens and being wowed by all the
Pre-raphaelite paintings. Just
witnessing how paint on canvas
could convey such miracles of
expression, mood and emotion
bowled me over...it was magical!”

He has always loved to look at and
learn from the art of others and when
asked about his favourite artists and
role models his answers shed some
interesting light on his own work:
at the moment i think i would have
to say David Hockney - ‘a Bigger
Picture’ at the royal academy was
room after room of fantastic paintings!
He has been a major figure in my
artistic life since i saw his Los angeles
paintings way back in the 1970s -
all those vibrant swimming pool
blues and landscapes in the bright
californian sunshine.
i had two exhibitions in Los angeles
a few years ago and was able to visit
some of his locations and to see those
swimming pools for myself! Now i can
see why he stayed there for so many
years. there is a clarity of light there
that makes everything seem more
vivid and more intense.
Besides Hockney, Picasso has always
been a total inspiration in the way he
did his own thing and changed styles
all through his life according to his
creative urges. yet the work always
had astonishing power and life.
i also love the work of oscar
kokoschka for his use of colour
and freedom of line and shape,
and turner and monet, wonderful
colourists and evokers of mood and
place are also particular favourites.
Philip himself is intrigued by the
dynamic intensity of lines and forms
to be found in cities and the way
a mass of rooftops, windows and
juxtaposed buildings seem to vibrate
against one another in exciting and
unusual ways. Initially he was interested
in conveying this energy through use of
colour, but recent journeys to some of
his favourite cities opened his eyes to a
wealth of possibilities of focusing more
on line as an expressive tool.
The use of lines has proved a highly
effective way to visually describe and
transcribe the latent energy inherent in
these cities. The addition of mostly flat
and uncomplicated skies adds contrast
and complements the whole.
paintings should live and should impart some of that life and energy to the person viewing them.
