Time for the start of a great school year at Hedgesville Elementary School! My name is Melissa Hollen and I have the honor of being named the new principal of Hedgesville Elementary School following the retirement of principal, Sonia Knipe. I began working in Berkeley County Schools 15 years ago. I started my career in the classroom as an English and Reading teacher, and then worked for eight years as the county’s Director of Federal Programs. Most recently I served as in Interim Assistant Principal at Mountain Ridge Intermediate and then Principal of Gerrardstown Elementary School. I have worked at all programmatic levels, K-12, and know each of those experiences shape my commitment to public education. My educational passion is finding gaps in learning and working tirelessly to fill those gaps. Our students are my students and they are by far the most important reason we do this work. Our children deserve to have a high quality and caring education. In fact, I believe that to receive a high quality education you must start with a caring educator. After that, learning in the classroom needs to be engaging and standards-driven. I know Hedgesville Elementary is a great environment for our students because it is filled with caring educators who deliver a standards-driven curriculum. I am honored to join this school. A few user tips include using Grade 1 for the selected grade, regardless of actual grade, and typing the first few letters of the street address rather than the full name. For example, type, "2555 Lex" to match "2555 Lexington Ave N" http://edulog.berk.k12.wv.us/edulog/webquery/ Communicating With Our School: @HedgesvilleElementaryPTO @HESEaglesWV https://www.berkeleycountyschools.org/ mobileapp
