Transcript
  • 1. Finding Congressional Hearing Testimony Outside of Lexis Nexis Congressional

2. In Lexis Nexis Congressional, search by number and find a legislative history by PL number.
3. Choose the legislative history for your public law.
4. Scroll down to the hearings section. Take note of which committees were involved.
5. Go to the Federal Digital System site: www.fdsys.govChoose Browse Government Publications
6. A quick note about FDsys
FDsys includes only those hearings that were published by the Government Printing Office. It is far from inclusive.
7. Choose Congressional Hearings including House and Senate Appropriation Hearings. Continue to click through until you get to the Congress, House/Senate, and committee where the hearing took place.
8. Scroll down to see if the hearing you are looking for or a similar hearing is on the list. Choose PDF or text to see the proceedings.
9. Searching FDsys
You also can do an advanced search in FDsys and limit your results to a given time period and to hearings. This is another option for finding relevant material outside of Lexis Nexis.
