About Forsmark
• One of the largest power plants in Sweden with three boiling water nuclear reactors
• 20–25 billion kilowatt hours of electricity generated in a normal year• This is approx. one sixth of Sweden's total electrical energy consumption• Situated on the east coast of Sweden, two hours northeast of Stockholm

WHY – The Business Drivers
Electricity prices in the Nordics have been low since 2012This puts pressure on power companies to cut and keep production costs low.
Every extra day “off the grid” during refueling means less incomeYearly overhaul and refueling requires downtime, but availability can be optimized with better planning.
Nobody should get injured at workBy proper processes and tools, the number of serious injuries within plant maintenance can be kept at zero and the need for redoing less safe work tasks (like re-examining a valve in a room with elevated radiation levels) can be avoided.
The quicker you learn, the sooner you are productiveThe nuclear power industry in Sweden is in the middle of a generation shift.

HOW – The Solution
Use search as a platform in which information is aggregated and from which information can be retrieved to be presented where and when needed.
We started our search journey in 2009 and switched to Elasticsearch as the core in 2014.

1. The information must come to where the user is – and not the other way around
2. Rather present highly accurate information than a bloated result set of information of various degrees of importance
3. Make full use of the well-organized information structure at Forsmark including common metadata
4. Use open source technology unless commercial vendors provide significant benefit
