Education

The institute hosts a range of innovative postgraduateeducational programmes that support multi-professionaldevelopment. Accredited by professional bodies, manyof these programmes are delivered in collaboration withNHS Trusts and organisations. .

ResearchThe institute supports a range of applied postgraduateresearch degrees which focus on topics relevant tohealthcare innovation in practice. Research undertakenby members of the institute span a range of topicsincluding clinical trials, Cochrane systematic reviews, andmedical education.

MSc Dental Implantology

The MSc Dental Implantology programme is facilitatedby the Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) in collaborationwith Implant Centres of Excellence (ICE Ltd); deliveringtraining to professionals in the practical application ofdental implantology in the clinical environment. Theprogramme introduces new technologies, includingminimally evasive computer guided surgery, and CAD-CAM restorative treatment techniques. You will also exploreinfection control, medico-legal and ethical considerations,and how to enhance the quality of patient care.

You will gain theoretical knowledge and practicalexperience at a clinical hub, developing expertise to meet

You will build your own portfolio of implant cases withsupport from a team of experienced dentists, and aclinical mentor.

Upon completion of the programme you will havedeveloped the core clinical skills and competency in therestorative and surgical aspect of implant dentistry, as wellas acquiring essential skills in critical analysis and research.

The programme is for qualified dentists with full GeneralDentist Council (GDC) registration, professional indemnityinsurance, and:

• A minimum of two years post qualification experience in general dental practice or hospital service

• Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure (and police clearance from overseas where applicable);

• Overseas applicants must hold ILETS 7.5 overall (with no element below 7), or equivalent.

The programme is delivered over 3.5 – 5 years on a part-timebasis. You will be taught by a combination of academicexperts from Edge Hill University and a team of dentistsfrom ICE Ltd (all with extensive experience of teachingand supporting dentists in oral surgery and implantology).
