Other FAFSA/Cal Grant related scholarships to be aware of:

Middle Class Scholarship (MCS): a new program that provides undergraduate students with family incomes up to $150,000 a scholarship to attend University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) campuses. (Automatic with FAFSA if you qualify for MCS)

Law Enforcement Personnel Dependents Grant Program (LEPD): The Law Enforcement Personnel Dependents Grant Program provides need-based educational grants to dependents and spouses of: California peace officers (Highway Patrol, marshals, sheriffs, police officers), Department of Corrections and California Youth Authority employees, and permanent/full-time firefighters employed by public entities who have been killed in the performance of duty or totally disabled as a result of an accident or injury caused by external violence or physical force incurred in the performance of duty. (Additional application necessary available on CSAC’s website)

The financial aid process looks intimidating at first glance, but it really isn’t. You will need your parents’ help filling out the FAFSA application but IF you have additional questions, ask an adult (teacher, coach, counselor, friend, older family member) for help. Truly, your counselor is a great person to ask. Also, many of your questions will be answered on the actual website or application – look there first
