This national retail franchise chain of electronic consumer goods was run by a cunning president. Don and his team were retained by the lender to assess the viability of the Company. Upon seeing the true state of the damage in the Compa- ny, Don was Court appointed as Re- ceiver and Manager. The Company had suffered from rapid and un- controlled expansion and there was a lack of internal controls. Liquid- ity challenges and other anomalies revealed that management was not totally forthcoming. Don examined all aspects of the Company to determine the options available and communicated with stakeholders the issues and the op- tions. He ran the operations and rationalized the business by closing some franchises. He determined the best approach was to sell the business through a Court approved process. Don then developed a sales pack- age, researched the market place and found a buyer, with which he negotiated and finalized an en bloc sale, after obtaining Court approval.
