    NETWORK NEEDS ANALYSIS

    Data Types.

The types of data served by the network will be reports, bulletins, accounting information, personnelprofiles, and web pages SQL database files. The majority of the data will be text (ASCII and non-ASCII), but there will be some still graphics and possibly a small amount of voice and video(primarily for PC-based teleconferencing).

Data Sources.Data will be created and used at all end stations on the network. The data will be produced bysoftware applications in Windows, primarily SQL Database, Software applications, Email Files andMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Other data sources to besupported on at least a limited basis will Windows Accessories (Paint, Notepad, etc.), NetMeeting,Media Player, and PhotoShop. Note that the network will be not be accessible from outside

Numbers of Users and Priority Levels. At the state level, the users will be administrators, secretaries, and members of departments. Theusers will be administrators, secretaries, and members of three departments. The maximum estimatednumber of users on the network at any given time is 100: 33 regular users in the Head office,Number users in the VPN, Number regular users in the Branch Office.

There are Number Organizational Unit of Active Directory and Number User Groups. Each O/Ucorresponding rights in file access, delete and modify files in LAN and External Access frominternet.Organizational Unit/ User Groups

    1. SysAdmin: -2. BoD: -3. Management: -4. Account/Finance Department:-5. Human Resource Department:-6. Marketing Department: -7.

Transmission Speed Requirements.Web Serve publish the Web Application Number: of user can access web application at a singletime. VPN access and Branch Admin Access is filter from Cisco 5010 ASA firewall. That Supports

100user/second while Access application from Internet. Internal LAN Speed should be maintaining1000mbps the office.

Load Variation Estimates. The data indicate that the highest average traffic volume will occur from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,Sunday through Friday. The peak network traffic volume is expected at two times during the day:10:15 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. At night and on weekends the network traffic isminimal except for the daily backups of the PCs to the LAN servers in the districts and several batchdata transfers anticipated from the districts to the State Office. The data indicate the followingnetwork design parameters:

The average required throughput on any LAN during work hours (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) willbe only about 0.2 mbps.

The average required throughput on the WAN during work hours (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) willbe only 0.04 mbps.

The peak expected traffic load on any LAN will be about 10.4 mbps. The peak expected traffic load on the WAN will be about 6.4 mbps.Of course, to avoid user complaints, the network is designed for the peak traffic loads, not the

    average throughput.

Storage Requirements.Storage requirements need to be large enough to store all Database, Report files, Email files,Documents that are related to company. Management users present and anticipated storagerequirements indicate that each user will need an average of 800 MB of server space (in addition tosecondary storage on local PCs); the maximum estimated server-side storage requirement per user isabout 1 GB. Additionally, Other User will need an average of 500 MB of server space (in addition to

secondary storage on local PCs); the maximum estimated server-side storage requirement per user isabout 800mb, each PC will have a minimum storage capacity of 160 GB, File server will have aminimum storage capacity of 2 TB in RAID 1(mirror). A main data server in the State Office willhave a 2 TB capacity. For Daily Auto Backup 1 Network Drive will Install that has 4 TB RAID1(mirror) capacity

Reliability Requirements. In keeping with user expectations and industry standards, both the LANs and the WAN are expectedto operate at 99.9% uptime and an undiscovered error rate of .001%.

    Security Requirements.

A firewall will be used so unauthorized users will be restricted. Part of the security will be Usersaccounts and passwords that will give limited access. There will be different access capabilities fornetwork managers and users. The User who can import Data from internet should have validHardware lock, CA server Authority and username and password from Access through Firewall toDatabase.
