MESAP MEchatronics and Systems for Advanced Production
Innovation Cluster in Piedmont
Alps4EU final conference - 16 January 2014
MESAP in numbers • MESAP (MEchatronics and System
for Advanced Production) is one of the 12 regional innovation clusters of Piemonte; it aggregates firms and other entities operating in the mechatronics industry.
• Mesap coordinator is Centro Servizi Industrie Srl, a service company from “Unione Industriale di Torino”.
• The final goal of MESAP’s actions is to strengthen and complement local supply chains, enhancing their competitiveness all over the world, through:
– technology transfer (from research centres to firms and among firms)
– international expansion (both for business and research)

International relationship
MESAP is open to international collaboration in order to:
1. participate to cooperative R&D European/international projects
2. share skills and competences with international similar innovation clusters, exchanging best practises and technology transfer methods
3. join the most important mechatronics networks and clusters in Europe
4. enhance commercial relationship between our Partners and international ones in the field of mechatronics and advanced productions systems

Present situation • As a matter of fact this is an example of private «Metacluster» • At the moment, activities are «voluntary» based • No public financing in any form for «Metacluster» activities • No access to «european dedicated measures» • We are experiencing some difficulty in «speeding up» cooperation at
level of both Cluster Managers and Cluster Members Opportunities • Networking Activities could highly benefit from a «European formal
endorsement and support» • It could be very useful if PPP should be a suitable environment and
instrument in order to support these «Metacluster» activities
