requirement of the course Financial Statement Analysis (FIN 408),
for which our honorale instructor !r" !#" $utfur%ahman assi&ne#
us to #o a term paper on the topic ' Ratio Analysis of the
Engineering Industryof Bangladesh. 1.2. Objective of the reportThe
objective of the report is to link between the theories of the
course and the reality. It was a group effort to evaluate the six
different companies through ratio analysis. After collecting the
required information we performed an analysis on our findings and
presented the information in this report. As a whole it was a
comprehensive effort to encompass an enhanced understanding of the
learning of this course using the real world materials.1.3.
ScopeOur report focused on the four dimensions of ratio analysis
i.e. Activity Analysis !iquidity Analysis !ong"term #ebt and
$olvency Analysis and %rofitability Analysis& based on the data
collected from #haka $tock 'xchange. $ince we worked on seven
companies the analysis was done using comparisons among the
companies of the same industry.1.4. Methodology(equired data was
collected from last five years) *+,,-" +,.,/ Annual (eport of each
of the companies. Therefore this report is completely based upon
secondary data. As our method of analysis we worked on the above
mentioned four dimensions of ratio analysis and then we presented
all the information through graphical means for a clear
understanding.1.5. Limitation0e faced the following problems while
preparing this report1.. $ince the firms we analy2ed do not have
the same business focus and product lines we had problem in
relating these six companies) information+. 3ot all the firms have
yet published their +,.. annual report so we were not able to
conduct this analysis on the latest data for all six companies. To
maintain uniformity we used +,., data of these firms for analysis
