20th century fox- History.

• Fox Film Corporation was formed was formed in 1915 by William Fox.• The production company was created by Joseph Scheneck in 1993, the production

company was called ‘ Twentieth Century Pictures’, it was an independent Hollywood production company.

• The two above companies came together to form ‘The Twentieth Century Fox’ in 1935. • 20th century fox is one of ‘the big five’ Hollywood studios.• The majority of Hollywood studios own film production companies, distribution

companies and exhibitions. This is known as vertical integration, 20th century fox is vertically integrated.

• Introduced Cinemascope in 1953, notable for its Western, for example: My Darling Clementine.

• 20th century famous films are: The grapes of wrath, How Green was my valley and The Songs of Bernadette.

Avatar- Information

• Avatar was released in 2009• Director & writer: James Cameron• Cast: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldan, Sigourney Weaver,

Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, ect.

• Marketing: A film trailer was released for the film previously. Then the day before the release of the film a teaser trailer was released. The trailer broke a record on Apple.com after being streamed more than 4 million times in the first day. 100 Imax 3D theaters around the world showed 16 minutes of the film. Due to Avatar being shown in Imax 3D theaters it creates a fan base and a buzz for the film, it enhances the audience. Action figures of the characters were made.

• The film is available on DVD & Blu ray.

• Avatar used social networking methods to promote the film worldwide.

• Social networks such as ‘Facebook’ was used to build connections and conversations with close to 1.3 million fans.

• Myspace had close to 800k friends.• Twitter had over 25k followers.• Youtube has close to 11 million views

• Warp films was launched in 2001. • This company is an independent British film company. • Warp film consists of warp films, warp music videos and

commercials. The company is based in London. • Warp films production includes: Dead man shoes, This is

England, Rubber Jonny and Four Lions.

• This is England was released in 2006• Genre: Crime/Drama• The classification for ‘This is England’ is an 18.• Director & writer: Shane Meadows• Cast: Thomas Turgoose, Stephen Graham, Jo Hartley, ect.• Marketing: ‘This is England’ released a film trailer and

the film was shown on channel 4. Posters were also put up to promote the film, the poster being a landscape and including majority of the main characters it allows the audience to connect with the characters as it involves them in the characters lives& know the characters before they watch the film. The posters were put onto billboards and in magazines to get into the audiences heads & to get the audience interested in the film.

• This is England used youtube to promote the film and allow the audience to see the trailer before the film is out. This was done to create a buzz for the film in order to make people want to watch the film.
