Definition of Metaphor:A metaphor is A figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. (Oxford Dictionary, 2015)Example: I pleaded for her forgiveness, but her heart was cold iron. (Ereadingworksheets.com, n.d)

Definition of Simile:A Simile is a figure of speech that directly compares two things through the explicit use of connecting words (such as like, as, so, than, or various verbs such as resemble). (Wikipedia, 2015)Example: He was as white as a ghost after his sister scared him with a mask.
