How to Download the PANTONE PLUS SERIES Today

Follow the steps below to easily download the PANTONE PLUS SERIES spot colour libraries.

1. Download the PANTONE PLUS SERIES from efi.com.

2. Launch Fiery Command WorkStation®.

3. Connect to the desired Fiery server to add the PANTONE PLUS spot colour libraries.

4. Go to Device Center.

5. Select Resources.

6. Choose Spot Colours from the Go Menu.

7. Click Import.

8. Navigate to the location of the downloaded PANTONE PLUS ICC profiles.

9. Choose the first library to be imported.

10. Click Open. Notice the new library appears in the colour libraries list located at the left side of the page.

11. Repeat for the remaining libraries you wish to load.

Important Notes• Remember to turn on Spot Color Matching in the

Fiery Color Setup for spot colour libraries to be used.

• The Fiery searches for spot colours starting with the library nearest the top of the list at the left of Spot-On.

Leaving the new PANTONE PLUS libraries at the top causes the new colours to be available and causes the updated measurements for legacy PANTONE colours to be used. This situation may cause some legacy documents to have slightly different spot colour matches. To remedy this challenge, take the legacy library, such as PANTONE Coated (2nd Edition), and right click (Option-click on Mac). Use the “Move Up” command to position it above the new PLUS libraries, so the legacy values for non-PLUS colours are used. (Do not remove the older colour libraries even if they are left at the bottom of the list since they provide support for legacy naming of PANTONE colours using –CV and –CVC extensions in their names.)

Other Tips to Enhance Colour Output with Fiery Servers • To ensure the best possible colour output, use

ES-1000 to calibrate.

• For optimal results and to facilitate soft-proofing, create custom output profiles for specific papers using Fiery Color Profiler Suite.

• To visualize which PANTONE PLUS swatches are outside the printer gamut use the Fiery Color Profiler Suite to compare the PANTONE PLUS library with your printer profile.

• To know how swatches from the PANTONE PLUS library will look when printed using specific combinations of printer and paper stock, simply select a PANTONE library and choose print.

• If you wish to fine-tune the output of a PANTONE colour, use the Find function in Spot-On to locate and modify the CMYK conversion of the spot colour within the PANTONE library.

• For precise control, select the match based on a printed spot colour search pattern. Print the pattern by highlight-ing the colour and clicking Print in the Spot-On toolbar.

* When you are satisfied with your PANTONE colour reproduction, just print the document to the Fiery.

** For PANTONE PLUS support, download the PANTONE libraries for design applications from efi.com
