The City of Covington is thrilled to bring you the 2014 Cov-ington Days Festival. This summer’s festival will take place on the campus of the new Valley Medical Center South facility at 27500 168th Place SE in Covington, just south Fred Meyer. The festival grounds will be open to the public on Saturday, July 19 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday, July 20 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Covington’s downtown area is home to many businesses, including those open on weekends. Please be respectful and refrain from parking in lots designated for business custom-ers and residents. Parking is available in the Covington City Hall rear parking lot and at the Valley Medical Center North parking lot by Starbucks on the north side of Kent-Kangley. Both locations will require a short walk across Kent-Kangley to the festival, but it’s a great place to park to be nearest to the parade route.
For a complete list of all Covington Days Festival activities and events, please visit the website at www.covingtonwa.gov/covingtondays or visit the Facebook page at www.face-book.com/CovingtonDays.
COVINGTON DAYSFESTIVAL 2014
Find the Festival Booth when you arrive to grab some free sunscreen and pick up a free festival goody bag full of cool stuff from our vendors
and sponsors. You’ll find a coupon for a free practice carnival game at the festival; coupon books for the Outlet Collection; full-size shower gel and free gift with purchase coupon from Avon Independent Sales Representative Rosalene Mullins, also a vendor; a gift from MultiCare; and more! Festival bags are available while supplies last, there are only 200! One bag per adult.
The festival booth will also be selling ride and game tickets, new Covington Days Festival t-shirts, raffle tickets for great prizes from our sponsors and vendors, and other items. The proceeds go directly back into the festival and will help us to keep bringing family fun to the community!
FIRST STOP:FESTIVAL BOOTH
Sunday is Family Day at the festival! What does this mean? This means there are even more family friendly activities to take part in on Sunday only. This includes the City of Coving-ton Commission’s Discovery Zone from noon-2 p.m. featuring craft activities presented by the city’s arts, parks, planning, economic development and human services commissions. Brickz 4
Kids Lego Education Program and Steamboat Studios will be on hand Sunday with fun activities as will the Covington Home Depot.
Be sure not to miss the Free Family Day Raffle that includes prizes like Mariner’s tickets, Zoo passes, T-birds tickets, 3-month Family Aqua Membership at the Covington Aquatics Center, a free birthday party at My Gym of Kent, gift cards and more! Prize donations are still rolling in! Family Day raffle tickets are available at the festival booth and there is a limit of one free raffle ticket per family member present.
SUNDAY IS FAMILY DAY
We are excited to have increased sponsor support that has allowed us to start incorporating some carnival rides and games back into the fes-tival. This helps us bring more excitement to the Kids Zone and keep ticket prices reasonable. The Kids Zone will feature the Wrecking Ball ride and mechanical swings as well as a rock wall and euro bungee trampoline. There will be inflatables, pony rides, face painting, a
dunk tank, six carnival games, craft activities, and so much more! Tickets are 2 for $1, with most games and rides costing between two and six tickets, or all-day bracelets for $15 (some restrictions apply; pony rides and dunk tank are operated and paid for separately).

page 4 2014 Covington Days - July 19-20The festival parade route will be-
gin at the Real Life Church Campus at 26201 180th Ave SE. Parade staging begins at 9 a.m. and that means road closures will begin around 9:30 a.m. and will last up until 1 p.m.
The parade will enter onto 180th Ave SE and head south toward 272nd/Kent Kangley. It will turn right (or west) onto Kent Kangley and continue west to SE 169th Place SE where it will turn right (or north) and head towards the Kohl’s parking lot. The new parade route is just over one mile long and the judging stand will be located on 272nd/Kent Kangley near Panda Express and Starbucks. The parade route features sidewalks along the whole route, but snagging a spot to set up a chair or stand and watch the parade near the judge’s stand will allow you to see groups perform in front of the judges.
There will be multiple road closures and detours in Covington during the parade. While 272nd/Kent Kangley westbound will be closed between 180th/Wax Road and 168th Place SE, the eastbound lanes will remain open at all times. Please obey all road closure and detour signs.
