Page 132 Page 132 The 37° Female JIC Swivel (FJX) is designed to accept a male 37° JIC Flare. No tube nut or sleeve is required because the swivel nut is permanently crimped onto the body containing a female 37° flare. Female JIC Swivels use the same torque values as the Male 37° JIC Flares, which are found on pages 49 and 135. Our swivel nut design meets the strict requirements of SAE. However, SAE allows manufacturer’s discretion when designing swivel nut fittings. For instance, Pressure Connections crimps all of our swivels nuts and pre-plates each component before assembly. This ensures that all of the surfaces are protected and that each crimp nut maintains the proper clearance to “turn freely” as SAE stipulates. Pressure Connections has spent a great deal of our research and development resources on our swivel nut crimp design. Female JIC Swivels are dimensionally standardized by SAE under J514, but because of differing manufacturing methods, and interpretation of conformance, actual performance will vary between brands. This is where our Quality Assurance Department sets us apart from other manufacturers. Pressure Connections takes great pride in each fitting we sell. Standard material for our Female JIC Swivels is steel with a RoHs compliant 96-hour salt spray finish that exceeds the SAE 72-hour salt spray requirement. Assembly Steps With a Visual Check1. With the tube flared, make sure the tubing
and threads are clean.2. Lubricate the threads with 10W hydraulic oil.3. Hand tighten the nut/sleeve (approx. 30 lb-in.).4. Make alignment marks on the nut and fitting.5. Proceed to tighten to F.F.F.T. or lb-ft. values.6. When fully tightened make a 2nd set of alignment
marks at the fully tightened position.
This completes a 37° JIC Flare connection with quick reference visual marks to monitor the nut if it has backed off.
• Torque values specified are for threads lubricated with 10W hydraulic oil.
• Remember sizes -02 through -08 are less tolerant to over-torque abuse.
• Over-torque abuse reduces the clamping force resulting in loss of seal and a reduction in flow.

of hex flats past the finger tightened position.
