PRAYER CONCERNS
Sue Merritt is scheduled to have major surgery on Tuesday, September 5th at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. She is expecting to have a 3 to 4
day hospital stay. Please keep Sue in your prayers during this surgery and as she recovers. The doctors have determined, after getting the pathology report, that the tumor in Sandon Hilditch’s brain is a very rare type. He will need both radiation and chemotherapy. They will do the first round in conjunction and it will last about six weeks, then after a short rest he will begin another round of chemotherapy. Please keep Sandon and his family in your prayers during this time. Your prayers are requested on behalf of Steve Martin, a friend of the Hyde family in Fort Collins, Colorado. Steve is just 41 and has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
FAMILY NEWS
We have several on our prayer list, right now. Let’s
continue to pray for those who are in need. I want to
remind all of you to be in prayer for those suffering
from Hurricane Harvey. We will have a special
collection this Sunday for the recovery efforts. This
Saturday, the 9th we have our men’s golf outing. The
men will meet at 8 am at the Firelake golf course. Also
this Saturday evening begins our Celebrate Recovery
ministry. We will meet at 7 pm in the fellowship room
downstairs. I also want to encourage all of us married
people to put our marriage workshop on October 20th
and 21st on our calendars. Let’s make every effort to
continue our growth as followers of Jesus Christ our
Lord.
Feed the Need
Last Sunday we talked about people being in need and
how we are called by God to help meet those needs.
We typically think of physical necessities when we
think of people being in need. Maybe they need food,
clothes, medicine. But as God’s creation are we more
than just physical bodies?
“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you
through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and
body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he
will do it.” 1 Thess 5:23-24 NIV
Here in this passage we see that we have three parts;
spirit, soul, and body. We’re pretty good about feeding
the needs of our body, but what about our spirit?
What about spiritual needs. We are created beings
with a spirit. What does our spirit need? Let’s unite
together this Sunday and look into God’s Word for the
answers.
See you this Sunday.
Your brother
Jimmy Hyde
Deep Thoughts
“When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter,
"Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?"
"Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Feed my lambs." John 21:15 NIV
Question: What does Jesus want Peter to do when He
says; “Feed my lambs.”?

YOUTH NEWS By NATHAN KELLY Forgive the late notice, but this Sunday we have the first AWTG of the fall series at Blanchard Church of Christ. I know that with school starting up, homework becomes an issue. If there’s enough interest, the van will leave for the AWTG at 3:45 and should be back around 8:30. We also have a dinner-n-devo coming up on September 17 at the Curtis home.
Life here on earth is way too short, and the world has a cruel way of reminding us of that. Sadly though, we need that reminder too often in our lives. Jesus got this cruel reminder when his dear friend Lazarus died. Jesus, being God, knew of death but when he took on his physical earthly body, I believe death took on a whole new meaning. I think that is why we see in John 11:35 Jesus crying over the loss of his friend. I think that could also be the reason we see Jesus in the garden asking God for a way out in Matthew 26. A physical death can be so hard for so many people. Luckily for us, God did not give Jesus a way out and this physical death is not the end.
WITH DEEPEST SYMPATHY
We extend our deepest sympathy to Craig McKnight in
the loss of his mother, Kay McKnight. Kay passed away
Monday, September 4th. The funeral is scheduled for
Thursday, September 7th, 2:00 PM at the Highland
Church of Christ in Tecumseh.
Our hearts also go out to the family and friends of
Otha Smith, a young man from
Tulsa that went to the Burnt
Cabin Christian Camp session
with our congregation. Otha
was killed in a car accident this
past weekend.
WARMTH FROM THE
HEART
We are gearing up for our annual
coat give away, Warmth From
the Heart, which is scheduled for
Saturday, October 28th. Please bring any gently used
