Federal Way COMMUNITY PROFILE Since becoming a city, Federal Way has grown into a major economic, political and social leader in the Puget Sound area. As of 2004, 83,590 citizens make it the eighth-largest city in the state. Federal Way's greatest asset is its people. We are fortunate to have an involved, caring and culturally rich community that is willing to step up and get in- volved in developing a city that we are proud to call home. Ideally located between Seattle and Tacoma, Federal Way provides a distinct re- gional advantage. The ports of Seattle and Tacoma, Bellevue and the tech- nology corridor and Sea-Tac Airport are located within a 30-minute drive from our city. Weyerhaeuser, TOTE, World Vision, and DeVry University all consid- ered Federal Way's location a major factor for moving to our city. Federal Way's commitment to active and passive recreation is evident in our many parks and trails. Celebration Park is recognized as one of the premier facili- ties for soccer and softball on the West Coast. The Weyerhaeuser/King County Aquatic Center is home to many national and international swimming and diving competitions. In addition, we have a trail system that extends throughout our city that provides outdoor activity and education of our natural habitats. In the arts, we have over 50 performing groups that call Federal Way home. The Knutzen Family Theatre is home to many performances throughout the year. The arts community is very active in promoting music, dance and visual arts to our citizens. And, of course, the Federal Way School District has been recognized as one of the best school districts in the state, providing quality educational opportunities for over 22,000 students.

Since becoming a city, Federal Way has grown into a major economic, political
and social leader in the Puget Sound area. As of 2004, 83,590 citizens make it the
eighth-largest city in the state.
Federal Way's greatest asset is its people. We are fortunate to have an involved,
caring and culturally rich community that is willing to step up and get in-
volved in developing a city that we are proud to call home.
Ideally located between Seattle and Tacoma, Federal Way provides a distinct re-
gional advantage. The ports of Seattle and Tacoma, Bellevue and the tech-
nology corridor and Sea-Tac Airport are located within a 30-minute drive
from our city. Weyerhaeuser, TOTE, World Vision, and DeVry University all consid-
ered Federal Way's location a major factor for moving to our city.
Federal Way's commitment to active and passive recreation is evident in our
many parks and trails. Celebration Park is recognized as one of the premier facili-
ties for soccer and softball on the West Coast. The Weyerhaeuser/King County
Aquatic Center is home to many national and international swimming and diving
competitions. In addition, we have a trail system that extends throughout
our city that provides outdoor activity and education of our natural habitats.
In the arts, we have over 50 performing groups that call Federal Way home. The
Knutzen Family Theatre is home to many performances throughout the year.
The arts community is very active in promoting music, dance and visual arts to
our citizens.
And, of course, the Federal Way School District has been recognized as one of the
best school districts in the state, providing quality educational opportunities for
over 22,000 students.
