CONTACT The Rotarian. February will mark the 113th anniversary of the founding of Rotary International. Peace has been the basis for much of the development of Rotary. Rotary was in London when the foundation of UNESCO was developed following World War II as well as when the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights was formed in 1948. Some 50 Rotarians were part of the development of the United Nations in 1945 serving in various capacities within the organization. Today Rotary has a new partnership with the Institute for Economics and Peace which was founded in Australia. Between now and June, Rotarians should watch the development of Rotary President Ian H.S. Riseley’s Presidential Peacemaking Conferences to be held in six cities across the world. He is continuing to explore the eight pillars of peace. Share in the journey in The Rotarian.
