Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us, Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us; facing the rising sun of our new day begun, let us march on till victory is won. Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod, felt in the days when hope unborn had died; yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet come to the place for which our fathers died? We have come over a way that with tears have been watered, We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered, out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last where the white gleam of our bright star is cast. Amazing Grace Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me.... I once was lost but now am found Was blind, but now, I see. T'was Grace that taught... my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear... the hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and snares... we have already come. T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far... and Grace will lead us home. We are so glad you chose to stop in today and worship with us. Hopefully, your visit has been a pleasant experience and you felt welcome when you entered the doors. Pastor Nance and the New Lake Grove family would love to keep in touch with you. February Congregational Hymn

“Lift Every Voice and Sing”

Lift every voice and sing, till earth and heaven ring,

Ring with the harmonies of liberty;

Let our rejoicing rise, High as the listening skies,

Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.

Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,

Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;

facing the rising sun of our new day begun,

let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod,

felt in the days when hope unborn had died;

yet with a steady beat,

have not our weary feet come to the place

for which our fathers died?

We have come over a way that with tears have been watered,

We have come,

treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,

out from the gloomy past,

till now we stand at last

where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,

That saved a wretch like me....

I once was lost but now am found

Was blind, but now, I see.

T'was Grace that taught...

my heart to fear.

And Grace, my fears relieved.

How precious did that Grace appear...

the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares...

we have already come.

T'was Grace that brought us safe

thus far...

and Grace will lead us home.

We are so glad you chose to stop in today and worship

with us. Hopefully, your visit has been a pleasant

experience and you felt welcome when you entered

the doors.

Pastor Nance and the New Lake Grove family would

love to keep in touch with you. Before you leave please

see an usher and take a moment to fill out a visitors’

card.

We would love to hear about your experience here with us. If there is something we

could have done to make your visit feel more like home we would like to know.

Thanks and God Bless

Dear Friends & Family of

The Grove,

In honor of Black History Month...

History defined is the study of past events, particularly in human affairs or A series of past events, con-

nected with someone or something.

What’s your story? How are you living? Today is writing your history, for generations to read.

When your story is read, will it be a legacy in which future generations will be blessed?

Each month a member of our church family will be

selected to be featured in our monthly church bulletin as

the “Member Spotlight”. This will give everyone a chance

to learn something that you may not know about our

members.

Charles’ birthday is January 12 and Ruby’s is June 4. They met in 2000 at a mall in Kansas City, Missouri...started dating, fell in love, and was

married on November 23, 2005.

Deacon Charles Adams is a native of Danville, Arkansas he moved to Kansas City, Missouri after graduating from Morrilton High School where he worked and retired as a Commercial Truck Driver for Jones Truck line for 30 years. Charles was also, a Tour Bus Driver with B & B Charter Services in

Kansas City, Missouri for 5 years.

Charles currently woks part-time delivering Meals on Wheel to Senior

Citizens in Crittenden County.

Ruby is currently employed with Mid-South Health Systems as a

Coordinator of the Drug and Alcohol Safety Education Program.

Charles and I both enjoy our jobs. We receive pleasure in being able to help

and work with others in such a diverse population each day.

Something that may surprise you about Deacon Adams is that he was a Middle-Weight Boxer for 5 years in Kansas City where he only lost 3 out of

25 bouts.

Charles and I have been married for 13 years and have a blended family of 4 girls, 7 boys , 12 grandchildren and

6 great –grandchildren.

We have been proud members of New Lake Grove for 14 years. Where Charles serves on the Deacon board and sings in the Male

Chorus. I serve on the Usher board with some wonderful ushers.

Both Charles and I have a passion for family and friends. We believe that having a relationship with God and supporting and being

there for our biological family, our church family and friends are top priorities in our life.

Deacon Adams and I enjoy being members of The New Lake Grove Baptist Church Family and supporting and being a part of Pastor Calvin Nance and First Lady Anna Nance’s Ministry and the other minister’s at New Lake Grove. Also we enjoy listening to spiritual

songs of praise and supporting our AWESOME church choirs.

Charles and I both love and try to live by the song lyrics of Mahalia Jackson’s “If I Can Help Somebody”...

If I can help somebody as I pass along , If I can cheer somebody with a word or song, If I can show somebody that he’s traveling

wrong then my living shall not be in vain.

God Loves You and So Does, Charles and Ruby Adams.

Event Planner New to “The Grove” in 2019...

Meet Danielle Lowe. Danielle is the wife of Percy Lowe and mother of Kerrington Micah. She and her family became members in December 2017. Since her time here Danielle has been placed in the role of our new church event planner.

As event planner I plan to incorporate fun, faith, and fellowship for the members and friends of New Lake Grove. Decently and in order I look forward to presenting event opportunities revolving around age groups, common groups, and the ministries of New Lake Grove. I look forward to presenting new ideas and new fellowship opportunities through events. Hebrews 10: 24-25 And let us consider one another to stir up love and good works not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another as so much more, as ye see the day approaching.

Valentine’s Day Dinner Looking for something sweet to do with your

sweetie...

Many people are surprised to learn

that "Lift Every Voice and Sing" was first

written as a poem. Created by James

Weldon Johnson, it was performed for the

first time by 500 school children in

celebration of President Lincoln's Birthday

on February 12, 1900 in Jacksonville, FL.

The poem was set to music by Johnson's

brother, John Rosamond Johnson, and soon

adopted by the National Association for the

Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)

as its official song. Today “Lift Every Voice

and Sing” is one of the most cherished

songs of the African American Civil Rights

Movement and is often referred to as the

Black National Anthem.
