A Monomial is a number (5), a variable (x), or the product of numbers and variables (3xy).

A Polynomial is the sum of monomials. Binomial: The sum of 2 monomials. Trinomial: The sum of 3 monomials. The degree of a monomial is the sum of the variables' exponents..

To find the degree of a polynomial, you first find the degree of each term. The greatest degree of any term is the degree of the polynomial. The terms of a polynomial are usually arranged so the powers of one variable are in descending order. Find the degree of the polynomial, then arrange in descending order: 3a2x8 - 2a2x5 + ¼x2 + ½x
