PATRIOT SPOTLIGHTTEACHERS HONORED FOR SERVICE AT SPRING EVENTTwo All Saints faculty members will be honored during the school’s upcoming Spring Benefit on March 24 for their years of service to the school. First grade teacher Cathy Smith will be recognized for 27 years as a faculty member and li-brarian Karen Gretzler will be honored for 25 years of service. Both of these dedi-cated All Saints Patriots have been making an impact on our school community for over two decades and while they are not retiring, the school will honor them and celebrate their contributions. Congratulations, Cathy and Karen!

TPSMEA MIDDLE SCHOOL HONOR ORCHESTRALast week, four of the middle school orchestra students submitted recorded audi-tions for the TPSMEA Middle School Honor Orchestra. The recording process was extremely grueling. Students spent about two and a half hours recording and critiquing their own submissions. This does not include the months of practice time preparing the audition cuts. Competition was against sixteen schools within the northern region of Texas. All four of the students that submitted recording auditions earned a spot on the Honor Orchestra. If you see the following stu-dents, please give them a shout out, high five, or just pat them on the back. They deserve it!

CHAPEL NOTESWe are spending the next couple of weeks discussing the Lord’s Prayer during chapel. Breaking it down line by line, I hope we might grow a little closer to what Jesus had in mind when He shared the prayer as an example with his disciples.

Holy Week and Easter are next month. Our Lenten season began with Ash Wednesday last week. I pray that it contin-ues to be one of reflection, peace, and anticipation for you and your family. God is so good!

Peace, Chaplain Paige+

AP CAPSTONE SEMINAR CLASS - MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATIONSThe AP Capstone Seminar Class is hosting a night of Team Multimedia Presentations on Tuesday, February 27. The students have been researching aspects of problems with landfills, effects of student exposure to social media on their academics, and sexual harassment among unprotected populations. They have developed presentations exploring the problems and possible solutions to these issues. The scores on these presentations will become part of their actual AP scores for the AP Seminar course. The event will take place from 6:30-7:30pm on Tuesday evening, February 27 in the All Saints Music Room.

The class would like to extend an invitation to all parents. It is a wonderful opportunity for folks to see our high school students in action showing off their AP-level course work.

CHILI COOK-OFF RESULTSThe competition was fierce. There were a total of 20 participants who entered the All Saints Chili Cook-Off. And the winner is ... Misty Deeds! Misty is our first ever Chili Cook-Off Champion, and received a $50 gift certificate (along with the glory and fame). Dennis Chance took 2nd place and received a $30 gift certificate, and our 3rd place finishers ended in a tie. Becky Addington and Paul Belk both received $20 gift certificates. The entire school and staff participated in the Chili Cook-Off, and fun was had by all. I know many folks are going to “up their game” for next year’s competition!

Student Council would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all that made chili, and to those that came out and enjoyed the chili lunch.

34th ANNUAL HALL OF PRESIDENTSThe 2nd grade teachers would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who helped with food and decorations for our 34th Hall of Presidents! All Saints received nice coverage in the local newspaper; the children’s performance was exceptional.

It was a fun-filled day for everyone.

Congratulations

Natalie!

COACHES CORNER MS BasketballCongratulations to the players and coaches of the girls and boys eighth grade basketball teams! Both the girls and boys completed their seasons with runner-up finishes in the WTCAA Basket-ball Tournament. The WTCAA is comprised of ten schools from the West Texas area, and the Patriots represented themselves well. The future is bright for middle school basketball!

High School BasketballThe ASHS Girls team wrapped up another winning season on February 9 with a great win over Southcrest on Senior Night! This year’s team overcame some season-ending injuries to some of their top players, and continued to fight and improve through adversity. Everyone is excited for the future for Coach Simons and his high school girls team.

The ASHS Boys team also won over Southcrest on Senior Night clinching their fourth consecutive undefeated district championship. For their efforts, they received a bye through the bi-district round of the playoffs, and opened their playoff season with a 91-56 win over Greenville Christian in the Area Finals last night. The boys will play in their fourth consecutive Regional Finals on Saturday at 2:00pm at Cisco High School against Dallas First Baptist. A win Saturday would send the boys back to the TAPPS State Basketball Tournament for the third consecutive year.

High School TennisASHS Tennis is off to a busy start with their season bringing home wins against Kingdom Prep, Lubbock Trinity and a hard-fought match against Lubbock Cooper High School. The girls team is out to return to the TAPPS State Tennis Tournament to defend their back-to-back state championships from the past two consecutive years.

OLYMPIC MATH - 4TH GRADEOur 4th grade teachers are bringing the Olympics into the classroom. Each stu-dent has selected a country that he/she represents. The students are researching their countries and keeping a count of the medals received. The program began with an opening ceremony march through the PLC and Lower School with hand-made flags. Each week a different Winter Olympic sport will be studied. The students will learn geometry vocabulary and measurement throughout the next five weeks. They will design, plan, interpret, analyze and create to complete each activity.

This quiz-show style competition is the only regional NOSB competition in a completely land-locked state, and receives teams from one of the largest geographic area - including Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota, New Mexico, Texas and Kansas.

Every year, twelve schools travel to the University of Colorado Boulder and participate in the Trout Bowl regional competition. The winning team then gets the opportunity to compete at the national competition in April.

All Saints sent four high school students to represent our school. The Ocean Bowl Team consisted of senior Sajan Dihenia (Captain), and juniors Cole Beasley, Abi Jordan, and Nisha Tarafdar. The sponsors were teachers Russell Hutcheson and Kelly Beasley. Although we did not advance to the next level, our kids competed well!
