Lady Eagles hit 120  Te Fairfield Lady Eagles are not only undeeatedon the season; they have now pushed their win streak to120 games, the longest current streak in the nation andthe sixth-longest winning streak in high school girls’basketball history.

And it wasn’t easy to keep that streak alive this pastweekend, but they ound a way to get it done, beatingBelt 45-43 on Tursday and earning another two-point victory on Friday, nipping Havre 49-47.  Te Eagles will travel twenty minutes down theroad to District 1B oe Choteau this Tursday night toclose out their regular season.  Te M’Ettes o Malta are hoping the Eagles keep theirwinning ways alive through the 1B District ournamentin Conrad and into the Northern B Divisional — whichtakes place in Malta — right up to the final game

Saturday night, February 28th. Te M’Ettes would lovenothing more than to be the recognized as the team totake down the our-time state champs — especially afergetting stung 60-55 in overtime in the state title gamelast year — to halt the Eagles’ win streak at 125... if  bothsquads can make it into the Divisional Championship.  Te M’Ettes have been the brides’ maids to theEagles in the State B ournament three o the past ourseasons. And the Eagles were the runners-up to theM’Ettes in 2010, meaning these two teams have met upin the state title tilt five o the past six years. Fairfield

has been in the state title game the past seven years, winning six o them. In all, these teams have met eighttimes or the state title and are even at 4-4.

wo extremely impressive programs since girls’basketball in Montana began in 1972, check out the titlegames these two teams have played in (keep in mind, this doesn’t include all   their State appearances — theyhave probably seen a ew consolation games, even someSaturday morning loser-out games):

2014 hunting & trapping licenses How the fightstarted

So, last night I was sitting in my recliner, watchingVanna White flipping over some ’s on the Wheel ofFortune, when I heard my my ol’ lady’s voice rom thekitchen: “What would you like or dinner, my love?Chicken, Bee or Lamb?”  I says, “Why, ain’t that special, thank you, darlin’! Ibelieve I’ll have the bee tonight.” (Would ya’ll believeI even called her darlin’, it’s gittin’ gosh-aweul close tothat Cupid day thing-a-muh-jiggy.)  And the old nag replied, “You’re having soupdumbass. I was talking to the cat.”

So just er un I says to her, “Did you know thatJapanese scientists have come up with a camera withsuch a ast shutter speed that it’s now possible to take apicture o a woman with her mouth closed? Now, whowudda guessed it? echnology these days...”

And that’s how the fight started...
