AN ANCHOR IN TIMES OF TURMOIL
We find ourselves in a world where nothing seems
permanent, where we are confronted with violence
and the threat of destruction. Psychology tells us
that in times of turmoil we can maintain our stability
by anchoring our life to something unshakable. Je-
sus calls us to anchor our life in fidelity to the Lord
and his way of life. To learn more about living a life of
faithfulness to our God through the focus of the
Catholic faith we invite you to meet with us at an
Inquiry Session. All who are unbaptized, baptized in
another Christian denomination, or baptized Catholic
but have never received the Sacraments of Confirma-
tion AND Eucharist are invited. Inquiry sessions do not
assume a commitment to join the Catholic Church.
They are for those who wish to inquire, explore, and
search for ways to grow in relationship with God.

Dear Parishioner,
As we celebrate the feast of the Holy family this weekend, we are thankful for the gift of family life. Even when suffering comes into
the family we are called to help one another. We need family life to find mutual support and strength, especially when the burden of
grief lies heavily on the heart.
We should not be discouraged when we see our family as imperfect. Perfect families do not exist. All families are called
to grow in love, and learn by loving. Like faith, love is purified like gold in the furnace. When love exists in the family
it can bear any burden. Love is never trying to get the last word in rather it is asking questions of one another—how we
can improve… instead of criticizing others, we want to extend encouragement and peace. When we contemplate the holy
family, we see humility, patience, prayerfulness. Love is born in a family and constantly develops amid lights and shad-
ows, and stays together in good times and bad.
What counts in families are not material things, but how we respond to one another and to God.
This year our parish will celebrate 100 years of its foundation. We ask the Holy Family to helps us to celebrate and be thankful. With
the Blessed Mother looking for Jesus in the temple, may we search for Jesus until he is found. (S. Bonaventure).
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. Fr. David
