PROPERS of the MASSFEAST OF CHRIST THE KING

INTROIT Apocalypse 5. 12, 1-6

The Lamb that was slain is worthy to receive the powerand divinity and wisdom and strength and honour: toHim be glory and empire for ever and ever. Ps. Give tothe King, O God, Thy judgment, and to the King's SonThy justice. V. Glory be to the Father.

COLLECT

Almighty everlasting God, Who in Thy beloved Son, Kingof the whole world, hast willed to restore all things anew;grant in Thy mercy that all the families of nations, rentasunder by the wound of sin, may be subjected to Hismost gentle rule. Who with Thee liveth and reigneth.

EPISTLE Col. 1.12-20

Brethren: We give thanks to God, the Father, Who hathmade us worthy to be partakers of the lot of the saints inlight: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of the Son ofHis love. In Whom we have redemption through Hisblood, the remission of sins; Who is the image of theinvisible God, the firstborn of every creature for in Himwere all things created in Heaven and on earth visible andinvisible, whether thrones, or dominations, orprincipalities, or powers: all things were created by Himand in Him. And He is before all, and by Him all thingsconsist. And He is the head of the body of the Church,Who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; thatin all things He may hold the primacy: because in Him ithath well pleased the Father that all fullness should dwell;and through Him to reconcile all things unto Himself, making peace through the Blood of His Cross, both as tothe things that are on earth, and the things that are inHeaven, in Christ Jesus Our Lord.

GRADUAL Psalm 71. 8-11

He shall rule from sea to sea, and from the river unto theends of the earth. V. And all kings of the earth shall adoreHim: all nations shall serve Him.

ALLELUIA Daniel 7. 14

Alleluia, alleluia. His power is an everlasting power thatshall not be taken away: and His kingdom that shall notbe destroyed. Alleluia.

GOSPEL John 18. 33-37

At that time: Pilate said to Jesus: Art thou the King of theJews? Jesus answered: Sayest thou this thing of thyself, orhave others told it thee of Me? Pilate answered: Am I aJew? Thy own nation, and the chief priests, have deliveredthee up to me: what hast thou done? Jesus answered: My

kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of thisworld, My servants would certainly strive that I shouldnot be delivered to the Jews: but now My kingdom is notfrom hence. Pilate therefore said to him: Art thou a kingthen? Jesus answered: Thou sayest that I am a King. Forthis was I born, and for I this came I into the world; that Ishould give testimony to the truth, Everyone that is of thetruth, heareth My voice.

OFFERTORY Psalm 2. 8

Ask of Me and I will give Thee the nations for Thineinheritance, and the ends of the earth for Thy possession.

SECRET

We offer Thee, O Lord, the victim of man’sreconciliation: grant, we beseech Thee, that Jesus Christ,Thy Son, our Lord, Whom we immolate in our presentsacrifíces, may Himself bestow on all nations the gifts ofunity and peace: Who with Thee liveth and reigneth.

PREFACE FOR THE FEAST OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THE KING

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, thatwe should at all times and in all places, give thanks untoThee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, eternal God Whodidst anoint with the oil of gladness Thine only-begottenSon, our Lord Jesus Christ, eternal Priest and King of theuniverse: that, offering Himself as a stainlesspeaceoffering on the altar of the cross, He might fulfil thepledges of man's redemption; and, having all creaturessubject to His power, might deliver to Thy sublimemajesty an eternal and universal kingdom, a kingdom oftruth and life; a kingdom of holiness and grace, akingdom of justice, love and peace. And therefore withthe Angels and Archangels, with the Thrones andDominations, and with all the array of the Heavenly host,we sing a hymn to Thy glory and unceasingly repeat:

COMMUNION Psalm 28. 10-11

The Lord shall sit King forever. The Lord will bless Hispeople with peace.

POSTCOMMUNION

Fed with this immortal nourishment, we beseech Thee, OLord, that we who glory to fight under the standard ofChrist the King, may forever reign with Him on theheavenly throne. Who with Thee liveth and reigneth.
