Prairie School (Frank Lloyd Wright) “Any building, or group of buildings, should defer to the character and scale of the site or area where they are built. Whether a building is done on the outskirts of a city, far out in the hinterlands, or smack-dab in the middle of a town, this is a principle worth abiding by."

The steel beams that support the front roof cantilever over the terrace are revealed in the folded and dropped ceiling along the edges of the main rooms inside. There are no real walls in the living room, only plaster-faced posts between the windows and doors which are continuous around the entire room. The wood-trim boards which bend to follow the ceiling line as they cross the room are spaced to align with the door posts
